Not sure what to think...

My LLMD said I need IV Rocephin cause of my horrible symptoms. It'll be my second time with a picc line. So, his office charged me $195 just to fill out the paperwork for IV antibiotics and picc line on Monday. This morning I found out that my LLMD does not want to sign a form my insurance needs to get everything approved now. I am not getting a clear answer as to why. And of course he is not in the office today. Does this make any sense? I know I have 'Lyme brain', but this seems very unethical and just wrong. Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions???

My LLMD does not accept insurance in his clinic. However, my prescriptions (antibiotics) are always covered at the pharmacy. Do people usually pay out of pocket for picc line and Rocephin? Then I am wondering why he charged $195 just for paperwork... My last picc line and Rocephin was covered (it was also from a diff doc).

Well, I have to admit, it surely doesn't sound good. You need to get a clear explanation as to why he won't sign the form your insurance needs. If it's due to raising the risk of him being investigated, then you will have to make a choice, as that a very real threat to our LLMD's. You can pay out of pocket, or find another doc.

But to be honest, you don't have to use IV abx because you have horrible symptoms, so if you would rather not do IV for any reason, just tell you doc. Maybe he will be more open to working with other treatment options if he doesn't want to run the risk of being investigated.
