Has anyone been asked by their LLMD to have the Borrelia test by Advanced Labratory's? Do you think this is an accurate test?

Its luck of the draw literally.

If the blood draw has Borrelia in it, this test should find it and / or will grow it (incubate). They offer extended incubation time for an extra charge.

But if Borrelia ran away from your immune cells in your blood (which it does) it wont find it.

Thanks so much astroman for replying. They found nothing even after the extended time. 16 weeks held, $750, no answers. Just wanted to make sure this didn't prove she didn't have Lyme.

Definitely doesn't prove that she doesn't have Lyme. These tests only look for the immune reaction to the bacteria, not the bacteria itself. So if she has a compromised immune function (of course she does! She has Lyme and it's known to suppress the immune function as Astroman said) - then the test can easily miss the infection.

Even the Western Blot - likely the most accurate test we have widely available - will only catch about 50% of the Lyme patients that are tested. The ELISA is worse with only catching about 30% of those tested.

The Advanced Lab test is the first of its kind though. Its the first actual culture test, 1) it looks for the actual Borrelia 2) then they try to grow it over time.

But in chronic lyme the Borrelia are said to hide from your immune killer cells which reside in blood, so it lives in tissue - a sort of safe haven.

"Dr. Burrascano told Medscape Medical News that the validity of the culture test was established using blood samples provided by physicians and that the identity of Borrelia was confirmed by its ability to grow in Borrelia-specific media, by its characteristic appearance on darkfield microscopy, by reacting to published Borrelia-specific polyclonal and monoclonal immunostains, by DNA polymerase chain reaction (PCR) at 2 different loci, and by direct DNA sequencing. "

But there still has to be significant amounts of Borrelia for them to multiply from what I have read, so a negative result still doesn't mean that the person doesn't have Lyme - only that it couldn't be detected in that sample.

Thank you all. Another thing is she was on a lyme protocol (Buhner's) and she got worse then she got better so I started her on the babesia protocol a few weeks ago and she has had a horrible time. We decided not to give her any today to give her a break. It reeks havoc on her brain. She has no peace. Her head burns, spins, screaching noise, and her eyes burn. This is nothing new, she was constantly having these symptoms when she first got bitten, but through months of herbals, she was a lot better. It just went haywire again. I just hope and wanted to make sure she's not having a reaction to the Alcchornea, Crypotolepis, Sida Acuta tincture.
