Last time I saw my LLMD i told him i wanted a second option and had that today

I know its late i passed out after my appointment, my sleep is all over the place right now when i acutely can sleep...so back to my point, last time i saw my LLMD it was my 2nd appointment and he showed me my lyme igenex results which were positive p41++, 31KDA. IND 39KDA. IND 83-93 KDA. IND.(he explained IND means you had a reaction but no antibodies or strong enough for positive band) makes sense to me i get that.. tested negative for all co infections but based on my symptoms told me bartonella, and i told him about my airhunger randomly but didnt think i had babs....also found out i had that mofo gene mutation for detoxing thing and i believe everything my llmd said and I trust him but i wanted a 2nd option (more so my parents did) He recommended i see this primary MD about 2 streets over who knows his work and lyme to high degree and said I should use his a primary as well besides 2nd option since my old primary thinks its all in my head... OK THAT WAS ALL BACKSTORY SORRY LOL
So today went really weird and left me more confused than ever. This dude who is an MD i only had a co pay of 20 bucks for spent like 40 minutes with me going over all my blood work from the past 2/3 years from every doctor i saw before my LLMD....THE THING THAT BLOWS MY MIND is my LLMD told me to see this guy remember and this doctor understands IGENEX and looked at my results and me and isn't convinced i have lyme based on my symptoms . I told him my 3 major symptoms are fatigue,no energy and cold intolerance and sometimes i get random labored breathing/air hunger.....He told me he hasnt seen an IGENEX test in 10 years that wasn't negative meaning everyone he has seen has p41 postive and some bands showing IND showing no lyme problems at all, which blows my mind cuz my LLMD told me to see this guy for a 2nd option and they know each other......He noticed how my thyroid is enlarged and how i went from so active to how i am now with energy and he wants to do more thyroid blood work becuz he strongly thinks something is going on with my thyroid (he said is making my vitamin d low even though i supplement for it) he told me some people with thyroid problems test ok several times before finding out whats going on...SO idk *** to think... i strongly believed my LLMD before today but why would he send me to this guy for a 2nd option when they know eachother and know how they work and this guy who seemed just as smart as my LLMD didn't agree with my LLMD..and i know what people are going to say hes not an LLMD, well hes the closest thing iv seen to it no MD i have seen in the last 2/3 years knew the info this guy did on lyme and co infections and hes close to my LLMD, so now im beyond confued , I got more blood drawn today for my thyroid, testosterone levels . He said he was going to talk to my LLMD and i see this MD again next wednesday and my LLMD on july 2nd . We agreeded to keep taking my meds/herbs for lyme until he speaks with my LLMD and i see him again to see what is going on....my mind is blown and i have more confused than ever....sorry for typing so much and the typos...

Um... is it just me? Or is there not something very wrong with getting a second opinion from the current Doctors suggestion?
I thought a second opinion was about fresh eyes not being influenced by any other factors. If they know each other and refer each other... there is influence.

*I will call this the "3rd Opinion" no co pay involved.
Maybe you need a 4th opinion... cuz the 2nd is influenced and the 3rd is mine. But seriously... am i the only one that sees something wrong here?

One positive band on a lyme test indicates you have Lyme. I would definitely keep treating it. Maybe your LD thought the GP really knows about Lyme when he really doesn't. I don't think to many GP can treat Lyme right (long enough).

It took years before my thyroid wacked out from Lyme, not meaning everybody is like that, and you probably do also have thyroid issues.

Maybe good that you have this GP who can work with the LD but I guess wait and see what they both say, you might need to find a new LD.

BDL- you have no clue what you are talking about. LLMD"s do NOT diagnose Lyme based on tinnitus and back pain.

LLMD's are under a tremendous amount of scrutiny and will NOT risk their entire livelihoods over one patient. They don't need to have more eyes on them just because they "want the money" as you seem to imply.

And, once again you are trying to convince a person with a positive Lyme test that they don't have Lyme.

I'm not sure that this is as confusing as it seems…

myeezy, as others have mentioned, if you have even 1 positive lyme specific band, which you do, 41, then your body has made antibodies to the lyme microbe. You can't make antibodies to the lyme microbe if lyme has never entered your body.

Additionally, the IND simply indicates a very low level of those specific antibodies that reacted to those specific bands. But they're there. You can't be "pregnant" as indicated in part of the test and not pregnant as indicated by the other. Both MDs, if they call themselves lyme specialists, should have told you that these are serology tests, which rely upon proper functioning of your immune system for accuracy. If you're infected w/ lyme & co, it is probable, not just a good chance, but PROBABLE that your immune system is functioning poorly, and therefore not making enough antibodies to satisfy a "+" level, thanks to the b.s. qualifications of the CDC. Not only is this just logical on the face of it, but anyone working w/ lyme patients who has studied lyme knows it attacks your red & white blood cells, compromising your immune function.

I've yet to come across any logical reason for including the IND level of the test, as all it does is confuse people and give those working against us a means to declare negative results, and declare those results falsely. I hope someday, someone goes to jail for this.

And, with all due respect, interpretation of these tests is SIMPLE microbiology. BASIC stuff. And ANY MD who does not understand how to interpret the WB is not qualified to treat lyme.

Also, explain to the MD that next time he wants to test you or anyone else for lyme, to "provoke" a more accurate response from your immune system by giving you abx or another antimicrobial like olive leaf extract through one life cycle of the lyme, or appx 6 wks. And then administer the test.

So, based on that, I believe your 2nd opinion was a failure, which you have no fault in! You use got a bum deal and at least it didn't cost you much. Unfortunately, it didn't "count" and you need a do over w/ a real live, authentic LLMD. I would not embrace any information he provided on lyme or coinfections. If you're set on a 2nd opinion, you'll need to find a LLMD. I'd start a new thread titled "Looking for LLMD in XXXXX" and ask for suggestions for someone in your area.

Regarding his information on your thyroid, great. I like that he knows people often show no issues when tested, but they actually have thyroid issues. Also, you should become intimately familiar with this resource, as it is essential for ANYONE who suspects thyroid issues:

Also, make sure you've read everything in the "New to Lyme?" thread before your next appt. Arming yourself w/ info is invaluable and will help you navigate w/ confidence.

he didnt just send me to this guy ...like i said before.... my parents wanted a second opinion they went in to my first and second LLMD appointment with me . MY LLLMD even told us he was confident i have lyme and bart and ebv and my parents understand that and they dont doubt him either they just wanted another opinon and they asked him of an MD or someone around with experience with lyme and knows what my LLMD does not just another doctor who brushed you off. IM getting the vibe everyone thinks my parents and I dont believe my MD or something that not it we asked if any LLMD were around besides him next closest was 3 n a half hours away so we then asked who he would recommend to see if he wasnt around for Lyme and a 2nd opinion and he send us to the guy we say. What just confused me is the MD i say said he belives in everything my LLMD does and practices and praised his practice but for some reason in my case didn't belive it was lyme, im not saying I believed him , im just saying it open my eyes to ask more questions to my LLMD i guess next time i see him, and my LLMD even said p41 has nothing to do with lyme he said for some people its an easy sign but wouldnt be in my case seeing how it started 2 years ago. MY LLMD said i had lyme based on 31,39 83-93 being IND meaning there was a reaction to lyme specific bands.
