Spoke to Rosanna magnotta of magnotta winery today. She lost her husband Gabe to Lyme disease and has set up a foundation in ont. she advised me to go get Abx and I have appt with Dr C in bc on 21 July. Please any locals who may know where best to book motel closest to 12011 second ave, Richmond, bc. Very hard to travel, need closest possible. My daughter will be travelling with me. Rosanna is a microbiologist and said the only way is to go on the Abx... Help with location of a motel would be much appreciated. Thank you for any input. Had not anticipated Abx and a little worried about effects on digestive system. Again any thoughts on what to expect......... Am getting desparate, need help, maybe Abx is the answer.

Quilty - How are you getting to Dr. C.'s office from the airport? Are you renting a car?
I am on Vancouver Island, so I'm not too familiar with the area where his clinic is. The first time we drove there, it was a little tricky.

The area of Richmond Dr. C.'s office - is called Steveston.

Close to the airport - there is the Travelodge for $119 per night; The Ramada for $119 per night; The Sandman for $189 per night.

Those were Expedia prices.

Also, the hotels are close to the #99 hwy/Bridgeport area. In between the airport and Steveston.

I understand your decision to do the antibiotics..as I have chosen the same.

But, I want to mention that people have healed with herbal treatments, too.
And - you can do a combination of both herbal and antibiotics if you choose.

The good thing - is after your initial consult, you can do several phone or skype appointments, so you won't have to travel for those.

That is so sad that Rosanna lost her husband to Lyme disease.

Girlie, I have done 7 months of Cowden, 4 months of Buhner and currently on Dr k protocol. Initially on Cowden I herxed but have not since, seemed to have plateaued. Weight is currently 91 lbs and falling. I just hope Dr c will put me on Abx, do not know whether body will take it. What were your side effects from taking the Abx. Was it hard on your digestive system. Do you take a lot of probiotics as I understand it kills off the good bacteria as well...... Oh so many unknowns.
We will fly to bc, guess we will have to rent a car or take taxi to Dr c office. Not sure how far it is from airport. Thank you for info on motel/hotel.

Hi Quilty,

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well with trying a few protocols. I hope you at least feel a little better! I am responding to this though I don't know anything about the drs in Canada because I too suffered from weight loss.

I would definitely recommend checking into bone and fat broths provided that your cholesterol is okay. It is pretty much a GAPS diet but I didn't just do the broths I also had raw veggies. I didn't gain the weight back fast, but I stabilized then stayed at pretty much 95 lbs until I was done with treatment.

I also did a homemade recipe similar to ensure - almond milk + 2 tbsps rice powder, 1 tsp of raw cocoa (lots of minerals), 1 tbsp of almond butter, and a bit of honey. A lot of times it was hard for me to force myself to eat when i didn't feel like it but once I did this it helped.

I hope Dr. C can help you! For me, Antibiotics definitely stabilized me and helped. I do wonder though (retrospectively) if I could have healed entirely using a natural protocol. Wishing you the best!

Have any of your symptoms improved? At 91 lbs, you don't want to lose anymore weight...no matter what your height is!

So, have you had an Igenex WB test?

If so, what were the results?

Dr. C. does use antibiotics to treat lyme. He is a member of ILADS so is familiar with the different combinations for each infection.

My stomach/digestive system were fine on the abx. But, after about 6 or 7 months my liver enzymes started to climb...and got even worse when I added Tinidazole. So, I am now taking a break from abx. After 4 weeks off, the enzymes are now back down...so one more month and I should be back on the abx.

Yes I take lots of probiotics...I take one that I get from Dr. C. and I also take a couple more types.

It is approximately 20 minutes drive from the airport to Steveston. They are both in Richmond. Not sure how much a 20 minute taxi ride would be. I'm thinking it could be $25.00 ???

I also lost weight - from 138 pounds to 124 pounds in a few weeks time. I was eating normally, and not exercising - hardly moving at all...but couldn't gain weight. The weight loss was muscle along with fat. (I didn't have too much fat on me to lose)

That was april 2013....By July, 2014 when I was finally diagnosed, my weight was about 126/127 pounds.
I started treatment in July.

I am now at 134 pounds and holding.

Girlie, 2012 diagnosed with poly myositis, prednisone for 11 mths and that's when I lost weight. Original 132 lbs, dropped quickly to 109, then 95 now 91. Stopped the prednisone and took Igenex test in March 2014. Herbals ever since.

So it is definitely Lyme.

Flatline on adrenals prob due to prednisone. Now take glandulars, pantathenic acid b5, and good b complex.

Opugirl thank you for your response. I have no probs eating, lots of good food inc. bone broths. Even took my ND's advice when he told me to go eat 2 cheeseburgers for lunch, seriously. I drink 2 ensures a day on top of my 3 square meals. Glad to hear that the Abx stabilized you, hopefully it will me.

Please do let us know how you are doing as you are up to it, Quilty!! I too am quite concerned for you.

Has anyone suggested to you that maybe if you can get your adrenals up a bit you might do better? Just curious and trying to come up with what could be stopping your healing.

Got anti inflammatory and pain meds from Dr today. Am booked in to see Dr c in bc on July 21, hopefully he will put me on the Abx. Just have to book our flights. My daughter Helen is travelling with me, thank goodness do not think I would manage alone
Do not know how to describe trav, but I feel like my body is coming to its end, and I have tried so much and stayed positive. Now I feel like if it's over it's over and it could be a blessing. Is that depression?.. I will try to hold the good thought and pray, but it's getting hard now.. Thank you for caring and please take care of you.....

Thank you for your kind words - my appt is tomorrow am. I'm really trying to distract myself now! LOL!

It actually sounds like you are just worn out from all of this. I too felt that way - then I "discovered" herbal healing and I was healed quite quickly (2 yrs treatment total for many 40 yr old infections). So please don't believe what you feel right now. Hang in there. Keep on doing what you know you need to do for your body - detoxing and giving it all the nutrition you can.

And I would encourage you to ask the doc about your adrenals. Sounds like they have put in a lot of work too and may be suffering as well. I couldn't believe the difference that supporting my adrenals and thyroid made in the way I felt.

And please give your daughter a hug from me? I have a daughter that I wouldn't have made it through this without either. They are completely priceless. True treasures.

Quilty - You have a positive test for lyme disease...don't worry about whether Dr. C. will prescribe antibiotics. I'm sure he will. I know several people who see him and know "of" several more.

I am so glad you are seeing him....I will be thinking of you on July 21st.

He doesn't talk much about detoxing (at least he didn't with me)...but he's a nice Dr. and knowledgeable about treatments.

Make a symptom list so when he asks you, you can read it to remind yourself.

There is a Pharmacy in Steveston - near Dr. C.'s office if you want to fill you prescription right away.

Yes, it will get better. Just keep returning to the forum for support.

I don't know if I would be treating right now if I hadn't found the forum.

I kept reading bulls-eye rash, flu-like symptoms, fatigue on the internet - for lyme disease symptoms.
I didn't have those.

Then I found this forum...and listed my symptoms...and found out that lots of people didn't start with those symptoms. Then I did the Igenex test and it came back positive.
