Hi, everyone. Just need a little more advice.
I started minocycline a couple of weeks ago, low dose. I am about
3 years into Lyme treatment and have been sick 22 years.
Yesterday, I started having a dull, stabbing, intermittent pain in the very low right abdomen near the groin area. I think it might be my appendix.
Does anyone know if this can be part of a herx? I definitely feel a lot sicker on the minocycline than I did before.
I thought I could wait a week and see if it gets worse before I go to doc...its so hard to go anywhere right now.
THanks!

oh no. I just read this:
Certain conditions such as appendicitis, intestinal bleeding, and other conditions can be made worse by ingesting baking soda. High blood pressure, heart disease, liver disease, toxemia, edema, and other illnesses can be made worse by ingesting baking soda. Also, some medications like tetracyclines, methanamine, and Nizoral can be reduced in their effectiveness by baking soda. (Source: HealthGuidance.org).
I have been really trying to ingest more baking soda and water lately. My doctor wanted me to take it between meals but until recently, I have not really been doing it. I wonder if that could be causing the pain.

Apart from what you found out about
the baking soda, I just wanted to inform you that appendicitis is often a misdiagnosis of the Yersinia coinfection.
The thing is that there is very little known about
Yersinia, and I don't want to worry you either.
Do you have a fever, vomitting?
It can also be your ovaries, mine can hurt terribly when I'm ovulating, to the point that I start getting worried.

hi Marie! I also get pain during ovulation but this feels different. It isn't an acute pain yet, though.
I actually see a doctor who tests for Yersinia. I believe there was no indication of active infection.
I guess I will stop the baking soda and see what happens.
Strange that I was told to take baking soda when it says on the internet that it can lessen effects of tetracyclines.
Thanks!

If you have concerns that this could be appendicitis - Do not wait around. Get to an Urgent Care Facility or Emergency room and get checked!!
I waited on my appendix - I had myself convinced that wasn't
really
what was going on - and I ended up with an emergency appendectomy. I just got in there in time, as my appendix was ready to burst and had started leaking already by the time they got to it.
If it gets confirmed that it's NOT appendicitis - then you can try to figure out what it really is. But a burst appendix is life threatening immediately, so it's not something to guess at or take chances with.

A bit scary when it happened though.
