Almost called 911 because of heart symptoms just now

I'm sitting in a public library right now trying to maintain my sanity.

I walked from my house to the library (about 1 mile -- somewhat uphill) and by the time I got there I felt an immense shortness of breath and tightness in my chest.

I almost lost my mind in front of a room full of strangers. I couldn't ****ing breath and my heart was beating so fast. I was so close to fainting. I was dizzy and lightheaded.

I felt like I was going to die....

I can barely climb stairs or walk uphill anymore without feeling this way. I'm getting a heart MRI next week so hopefully it will shed light on what's going on in my whacky system.

Sounds like it could be a heart attack I wouldn't chance it and get it checked out asap!! My Dad's main symptom was he couldn't walk back up a hill he just walked down. They said he had earlier minor heart attacks but this one almost did him in. He had a 6 artery bypass surgery the very next day! If you are having an MRI it sounds like you have already experienced some sort of heart problems. Does the Dr. who scheduled the MRI have an emergency contact number just in case?

Sorry to hear this, Raging Bull! That is so scary!

Unfortunately, the stairs and hills are really hard for a lot of us, resulting in the heart and breathing issues. I am having the same problem if I just walk up a short flight of stairs from the subway to the sidewalk. Just keep telling myself it will subside, and eventually it does.

My heart tests have come back normal so far (EKG, EEG, MRI, etc), which is actually frustrating. The symptoms lessen whenever I'm on antibiotics, which is comforting but I'm not on them right now. The new member named Alyrose2 has had a lot of heart issues; search for her name/her posts and there may be some insight there.

Are you taking anything? Are you seeing an LLMD?

I don't mean to scare you but I was just hospitalized last Thursday due to heart issues. I had to call 911 and be taken in on an ambulance. I'm seeing my cardiologist tomorrow and an a cardiologist that specializes in electrical function of the heart.

My heart has been bad lately. I've been off abx for a week due to issues and since then I can't move or do anything without my heart rate shooting up. I'm also having "pounding" heart feelings and chest pain. So I'm sorry I'm of no help, just know I'm in the same boat..

I think you need to get heart testing done ...just in case...

Better safe than sorry, right?

I'm sorry to hear this man. I have heart issues sometimes too. I've passed all the way out before. I had a bad scare a few weeks ago and had all the same symptoms as you and even had pain in my left arm. I freaked out! But everything ended up being OK I didn't have a heart attack or anything.

I'm glad you are getting checked out.

Thank you everyone. I had a full cardio workup a few months ago and everything came back fine (EKG, Stress Test, Ultrasound). However, that was before my heart symptoms got worse.

The MRI was actually my drs suggestion because he could tell I wasn't satisfied with the results. My MRI is next week, but I'm tempted to call my cardiologist before then because of these scary symptoms. I think I will tomorrow.

gregkdc - Did your dad have Lyme Disease? Or a heart condition? I'm praying it wasn't a heart attack (i'm only in my early 20s!)

mauihawaii - Thank you, it is comforting knowing someone else has this. Have you ever thought of calling 911 from your symptoms? Does it feel like you might pass out?

Alyrose2 - Thank you as well. Did you have any heart testing before (EKG, stress test, ect)? What were the results?

Girlie - I will call my cardiologist tomorrow and explain what is happening. He might tell me to wait until my MRI or come in for another EKG/ultrasound.

He has pretty severe heart disease, they think it is a side effect from agent orange exposure. As for as my Dad having Lyme, who knows, he is going down in health pretty fast and I hate to say it but I don't think he will be around for too much longer. I really do think that my Mom has it she is from New Hampshire and has weird symptoms all of her life, she is thinking about getting tested. I sometimes wonder if I was born with Lyme, I don't remember a tick bite.
