Is it like minimal activity and out of breath? Excessive yawning?
How does one describe it?

For me, I try to take a deep breath but it feels like I can only fill my lungs up a little bit. It's a very strange feeling and is one that you really do have to experience to understand how annoying it is.

For me it was no matter what I was doing - suddenly I felt like I was having an asthma attack. I could be laying down and have it come on suddenly, or I could be sleeping, eating, talking, walking - whatever!
I have never experience true asthma, but when I was getting 2 severe bronchitis infections a year for several years in a row (used to be a pattern for me), I would eventually get bronchial spasms and the doctors always told me that's what asthma feels like, and I got an inhaler - boy I hated those things!
It felt like I could breath fairly deep, but it was never enough air reaching my lungs....or so it felt. It's the fish out of water feeling.
I have read where excessive yawning could be a sign of mild air hunger though.

Thank you all so very much.
Earlier I grabbed my purse and walked to my car, 30 feet and I felt like I couldn't breath, like an asthma attack.
Back in March I had to fly and in an airport I went up some stairs maybe 30 to 40 of them, got to the top and was sucking wind, I was embarrassed because there was a man that was probably 30 years my senior and he was looking at me like I was crazy. I thought man I am out of shape, but I'm only overweight by 5lbs or so.
I do excessive yawning frequently but that is getting better.
More and more I believe I have babesia.
All so annoying!

Feels like for me your trying to breathe with a hand or pillow over your face or noise and when I'm get air hunger it's a lot harder to breathe thru my noise, luckily I'm getting this less and less these days

For me it's excessive yawning, especially when exercising. As well as frequent sighing. I've always explained the sighing as I forget to breathe: it actually feels like I subconsciously hold my breath for a while without realizing it, and then suddenly I need to sigh to let it out or need to take a really deep breath and then let it out.
It also sometimes feels like very shallow breaths that won't go deep so there's a consistent feeling of not having enough air, like the diaphragm won't expand enough to let enough air in.
I get that scary huffing & puffing at the top of any stairs now too, or any incline, like I'm old. Very sad.

So glad I find this site. I swear I thought I was crazy thinking that I was yawning all the time, could barely carry on conversation on the phone. I would try to get on the treadmill and was scared ppl thought I was super lazy bc I was yawning the whole time. I would have never named that symptom to my dr for fear they would think I was nuts

Melimom, welcome to the group! Yes, for so many of us this forum has been an absolute godsend!!! Finally, we can all see that we are not crazy or hypochondriacs and that someone else out there has experienced our same symptoms. I now tell my doctors that lots of my lyme "friends" have my same symptoms. HA!
