Sorry to hear that Dorifish!! You say you've moved many times - do you live in a State that gets a lot of rain?

Sucks. I love the rain. It rains all the time in my dream city, I've been told. I don't think I could stay away, if I had the opportunity, even if it meant my health. Though, that's a crazy thing to say.
Real sorry you gotta go through that. No fun living in a place you aren't happy calling home.
What about
Nevada? It's pretty dry there, in places, huh?

I got stuck living in a moldy apartment for a year last year (after living in a moldy house with my parents my whole life!) ...with the use of a good air purifier and/or a thieves oil and lemongrass diffuser, my mold inspector said we got the mold levels down to lower than what was outside!
Might help if you're stuck there for a while.
Sorry to hear :(

I've been doing a lot of research on this lately because I'm in a moldy apartment and my landlord has become very aggressive with me since I told him about
it (I think he's afraid of liability so he's using intimidation as a tactic to get me to not take action against him... It's been a brutal month of being yelled at by a bully!!). I did the "pro-lab" mold test (just $12 at a local hardware store, plus around $50 if you send in the results for analysis). Seemed pretty good. Easy enough, you just set out a petri dish for an hour, then wait 96 hours to see what sprouts up. Identified three potentially dangerous strains of mold in my apartment. But I did notice on the CDC website that they do not suggest testing for mold.. They consider all tests unreliable and besides, because everyone reacts to mold differently, they are necessarily inconclusive. According to the CDC, if you see/smell mold and have symptoms, you should consult a doctor about
whether you might be affected, and if so, take measures to remove the mold (or yourself from the environment). A better resource than the CDC website is probably survivingmold.com

Places like Home Depot and Lowe's sell home test kits for mold. It comes with instructions and you send the samples back to their lab for evaluation.
