got my Igenex results - need help

IgG:

31, 41, 58 +

PCR:

there are two pages, I can't tell the difference but one of them says:

GENOMIC B BURGDOFERI - NOT DETECTED
PLASMID B BURGDOFERI - NOT DETECTED

and the second says

Genomic B Burgdoferi - PENDING
Plasmid B Burgdoferi - PENDING


..... please help :)

To clarify your IgG - 31, 41 and 58 all have + ?

You can count the IND as positives.

These test results coupled with Lyme disease symptoms = Lyme disease.

I'm not familiar with the PCR testing - don't know why one page says not detected and another page says pending.

They are looking for Lyme DNA in the sample for the PCR test.

But not sure about why there are two different sets of results - one still pending.

Hopefully someone else will know.

What does everyone think of the PENDING result for whole blood PCR? Is this normal from Igenex

I don't know, but give them a call. I've called them a few times with questions.

That is odd? I had mine done a month or so ago and received complete results. I agree with Girlie, give them a call and see what's up. My whole blood came back negative but serum was positive. Their machine may have been down or it's possible they ran the test and for whatever reason need to rerun. I work at a very large lab and manage their billing. If you need or have any questions please feel free to message me, I don't mind getting info or helping in any way.

Your igg is very much so positive for lyme. Your pcr is looking for dna in your blood.

Called igenex, they said the complete results will be out by Monday. Seeing ND on Tuesday.

In the meantime I showed my results to a doctor friend (a radiologist) who said the results do not suggest Lyme. I emailed him back to ask what he meant but he didn't get back to me. Grr...

It seems only LLMD's know how to interpret WB results and, truly, the test results don't matter except for some patient's peace of mind.

Even the CDC says Lyme is a clinical diagnosis - based upon symptoms.

Still, you've responded on many bands. People don't produce antibodies to infections they don't have.

Anyone that says that your results aren't suggestive of Lyme has no clue what they are talking about. This is the part of the controversy that screws a lot of patients - very few medical personnel know how to properly read an Lyme test, so they give the patient the wrong interpretation. You simply can not test positive (even slightly) on a Lyme specific band without having that bacteria (Lyme) inside of your body, so you have Lyme and need treatment.

Toronto_M: forget about anyone other than a LLMD or LLND providing an accurate interpretation of your results. When I was advised by my LLND to see my family Dr for abx, I took my Igenex results to her and she spent more than 10 mins trying to understand them. Then she gave up and very reluctantly wrote me the script (for 1 month, when I needed more). I knew she would not be able to interpret the result.

My naturopath says this does not suggest Lyme. I asked her why and she said because I have no exposure and my symptoms don't match Lyme (even though I have 10-15 symptoms of Lyme).

Needless to say I'm looking for a new ND...
