Does anyone have any experience??

Is this something I could do on my own. My appointment with an LLMD is 10/27 and was wondering if I could do this in the meantime

I know there are forum members who have done Cowden on their own...I'm not one of them, I did the Buhner herbs.

Yes, you could do it while waiting for your LLMD appointment. That is a good idea...much better than waiting and doing nothing. Heck, even in that time,you may see some improvement!

If you want, yeah. I mean, if you can afford it, on top of what you'll likely be paying your LLMD.

If you go through the Nutramedix site, getting the Cowden Support Program, they send you a little booklet with some information and a chart to help you keep track of what you're supposed to take/when you're supposed to take it.

I'm pretty sure that's what the person in the thread jrpsf linked is on. So, yeah, definitely could find some more direction there.

And, from what I've heard, between natural and pharmaceutical treatments, it's best to try out the herbals first, as the antibiotics supposedly make your system "toxic," which I really can't contest, and that impacts the effects of the herbals.

But, honestly, being that your infection's still young, while I'm sure you've heard this from one of the other members at least a couple times, I'd really be in a rush to get some antibiotics in you. Though, you said your appointment's not until the 27th of October. That's a long time, when it comes to this stuff.

Isn't it like, 3 months of treatment for every month of being infected?

I don't know. Again, I'm sure you've heard most of this from the others.

I followed the Cowden protocol for 6 months after transitioning off abx. I'm now switching to Buhner's Lyme protocol because I am also titrating his Babesia protocol and didn't want to have to worry about herb compatibility.

(my LLMD wanted me on an herbal protocol - either Cowden, Buhner or White....but he doesn't know enough about the herbs to guide me. I know Nutramedix publishes an herb compatibility chart for their products but there are no online instructions for co-infection protocols like there is for the Lyme protocol. Thus, my switch)

Many people follow an herbal protocol while on abx and I would hope your LLMD supports this.

I've read many different theories on treatment times and I can't say they held true for me.

I started treatment within days of the tick bite but it wasn't adequate so, here I am, still treating over a year later.

Bottom line, it would be a good idea for you to start treating and it would be best for you to follow a protocol that has proven success.

Since the Byron White formulas must be purchased through a physician, you'd need to choose between Cowden and Buhner.

The Cowden Protocol Schedule can be found on the Nutrimedix site....and the tinctures can be bought at much lower prices from either PureFormulas.com (free shipping) or Amazon (free Prime shipping).

One benefit I see with the Cowden Lyme protocol is that it addresses the co-infections somewhat (around month 4). While I don't think it's adequate for full treatment of the co's, the patient might receive "hints" (via herxing) as to whether or not they are dealing with a co.

That's what happened to me.....and I decided to switch to Buhner only because the herbs he recommends for his various protocols have no compatibility issues.

There are no published Cowden protocols for the co's so, for someone such as myself without detailed help with herbs from my LLMD, I thought I'd be better off with Buhner.....and my LLMD supported this decision.

There are actually several herbal protocols that you could do on your own if needed. Cowden, Buhner, Jernigan's and the one that I used for Lyme and Bartonella - Chronic Tonic plus Houttuynia.

You can also do Bee Venom Therapy on your own, just need an epipen, be able to tolerate 3,000mg every single day, liquid Benadryl and some honey bees!
In my 8th weekend seeing great results.
