My wife felt a lump on the left side of her jaw. She thinks it's been there for 3 days. It hurts if she pushes on it. Looking online I believe that maybe here submandibular gland is swollen???? Not sure. Along with that her lip on the same side is slightly swollen and there are now a few new canker sores on the inside of her lip. All of this happened during the same time. She does put alot of her (protocol) homeopathics under her tongue for 30 sec or so. But, not sure if this is related.

QUESTION: Has anyone else experienced this? Could this be related to detoxing (from lyme disease or co-infection)? Any suggestions for remedies, etc....?

I just researched oil pulling. Never heard of it. VERY interesting! Thanks for your post. She's gonna try it!

I hope you meant canker sores. If that's the case, then she can start on L-Lysine (up to 6,000 mgs a day for as long as she needs). These are due to a herpes virus that most all Americans have. Or she can get an antiviral from her doctor.

I will research that.

Do you think that it's possible that it's a detox side affect perhaps? Have you heard of any of these things being associated with detox symptoms?

The lymph system is our first line of detoxing for the body, so they do get "clogged" from time to time. In that respect, yes it's from detoxing, but it's because her poor body is full of so many toxins, and it's trying so hard to clear them that some of the "stuff" has clogged up the system a bit. We can't give her an oil change like a car (LOL!), but we can do things to help get things moving again like the lymph massages, or taking herbs that are capable of helping out and a few other things.

The gland along my right jaw is one I often battle with. A few times a month gets so large the swelling goes down into my neck and up across my ear. I start to look like sloth from the goonies (The wife still finds no humor in me doing my "rocky road" impression in public, no sense of humor lol).

I typically step up detoxing and put some warm compresses and it dies down in a day or two.

I had one biopsied when I was bouncing between my pcp and llmd. When my llmd found out he asked to please have the results sent to him and we could discuss with my pcp. The results I got were horrid, but the llmd said they always are and it can largely be explained by lyme and it's effects. I shutter to think what all my regular Dr. Would have put me on had I went with his treatment.

So sorry you have to deal with this. My wife was worried about it until she got the responses to this thread. (Thanks everyone!) Could I ask what the biopsy showed for this? Just curious.

Just found it. The results were vague but suggested further testing for non Hodgkin lymphoma and sarcoidosis. Other than this being flagged in the biopsy, all other follow up and bood tests did not support either of these.

This is still something I would put a call into her Dr on. Can never be too safe.

Lyme is great for presenting through weird and wild ways that are great at keeping us on our toes. Best wishes to you both.

The thing is, unless they are looking at Lyme as a very real possibility, they won't see it at all. So always keep in mind what kind of doctor it is and who is evaluating whatever sample it is.

Very very true trav. This was when I first started seeing my llmd along with a rheumatologist and my pcp. Both the pcp and rheumatologist would both have likely treated me for either of these before accepting Lyme. They had already removed a perfectly functioning gall bladder as a hail Mary as they ran out of explanations. Who knows what would have come next.

I promise it was not "aimed" at you, I only posted it as something to be considered for those that may be going through this now or in the future.

Fortunately, YOU knew to be wary after "the gall bladder incident".

An interesting note, I've been talking with lots of people as some of you know, and I've been having some tell me that if the doctor will look for Lyme bacteria in the failing/failed organ, they will likely find them in there!! Something to think about for those that will have to have surgery to remove a gall bladder or appendix - insist that tests be run on the organs looking for these infections!! Believe me, it would hard for anyone to argue that you don't have Lyme if your gall bladder or other organ had the bacteria in it!!

I was talking to a woman in an airport recently and the conversation started because I was having a bad day and was worn out from traveling and dealing with people putting roadblocks in my way while I was dealing with medical crisis' for both my parents.

Anyway, She said she had Fibromyalgia and i started the "have you been tested for Lyme?" talk. She actually works for the military doing the testing for organ donations and she said that Lyme is something they test for.

Traveler's comment about my organ donation status. Right now my license says I want to donate my organs, but I think I'll change it (my license is up for renewal). I wouldn't want to infect anyone who is waiting for a donation so they can become healthier. You would think that alone would kick the Lyme deniers in the pants. Probably not though.
