Any experience with Nystatin?

I'm now on week 13 out of 21 with my abx treatment for Lyme. Overall, every one of my symptoms has improved. Some symptoms are gone completely but I spoke with my LLMD doctor today and she feels that my current symptoms sound like I may have a fungal sinus infection. She is prescribing Nystatin and an antifungal nasal spray. My main symptoms now are food allergy/reactions especially to sugar. I end up getting headaches, fatigue, facial pressure and pain, brain fog. It really feels like a sinus infection just not as severe. Anyway has anyone taken Nystatin with success? I've researched it a little but nothing beats real testimonials.

I took Nystatin twice a day during most of my treatment. It did help, but it didn't clear the Candida - I still have it. I even pulsed Diflucan ontop of it.

Onetime - Are you using the Nystatin powder or caps/tabs?

The powder - from a compounding pharmacy is supposed to be best.

There is a thread currently on the first page of this forum about Nystatin.
Our member, Pirouette is very knowledgeable about it.

I took Nystatin and it did nothing for my yeast overgrowth in my throat. Ditto for Dilfucan as well. Right now I'm on VSL #3 probiotic and chlotrimazole losenges for a few weeks now they seem to be helping. Then again I'm also off the abx which is the primary culprit!

I took nystatin for the first few months of treatment to keep yeast at bay. It seemed to have help me and i had no problems

It was too strong a medication for me, even using the pure compounded form and taking an eighth of a dose... created too much die-off and actually seemed to stir up my infections rather than help me get rid of them. Not to be dissuasive... seems like lots of people have had success. Perhaps, if you are quite sick, just take it slow to start.

I have a history of internal candida, I hate it. After lyme ABX, I used Nystatin tablets when I had mouth thrush and other fungi/candida symptoms. It helped by was very slow, its not very strong, doesnt go very "deep", I never herxed on it- NOW Candida cure herbal mixture was stronger/more effective.

As you've read here, Pirouette has used Nystatin powder internally with great success, its more effective apparently than the pills.

I used Diflucan tablets after Nystatin tablets, it seemed much stronger to me, I herxed for one month on it! It is known to go "deeper" after fungi. It obviously was killing stuff, that nystatin pills did not. Plus my C4a levels (triggered by lyme and mold/fungi) went lower on duflican.

Hi,

This isn't a cure but I have had a lot of relief from congestion using this method:

I put a tiny bit of distilled water in a small stainless steel pan. When it starts to boil, turn the heat down and add 2 drops of red thyme, peppermint and eucalyptus.
Shake the pan to disperse the oil. Breath in. If only one nostril is clear, it will go to the other side.

I'm on Doxy due to Lyme plus diagnosed with systemic fungal/candida. I'm not allowed to take Mint or Eucalyptus with my homeopathics. Of course, the sinus congestion is out the roof. After suffering for a couple of days, I came up with an alternative recipe:

3 drops of GSE liquid concentrate, red thyme and Lemon Myrtle from Edens
garden. Look up Lemon Myrtle. It has more anti-fungal power than tea tree oil and smells amazing. I'm excited to say it totally worked and got me through the night. I hope this helps any fellow suffers.

Rikky, did you take the nystatin tablets or the pure powder? Pirouette has said that the powder is what you should be taking. You mix it in water and then drink it. You swish it around your mouth and then swallow. The idea is that you coat everything all the way down.

The Tablets would not have the same effect. They would completely by pass any candida in the mouth and throat.

I have a question though. Does anyone know if Pirouette said anything about the having the yeast overgrowth in the sinuses? This is the second or third thread I have seen that mentioned it and I would expect that the Nystatin powder would have any effect.

I'm wondering what the best treatment for that would be.
