We all know about
Igenex, but what about
ISpot? The article I read about
it says that it is 84% accurate. So which is more reliable, IGENEX or Ispot - anyone? Just doing my research and gathering Info. My Facebook Lyme topic of the week is on blood tests.....TIA!

I just tested with the ISpot test last week. It was positive. I was tested through Igenex along with numerous repeat ELISA and Western Blot tests...all negative. I was however Igenex positive for Bartonella. The ISpot is unique in that it looks for T-cell response. It actually gives a titer that can be compared to future tests to determine the efficacy of treatment. I'm not sure if I'm permitted to state the cost of the test. The lab wouldn't give me that information when I called expressing an interest. I had to order it through an LLMD.

Chapelle,
Did you happen to speak to your LLMD about
the Ispot test? The concept is quite intriguing...

I was tested with lab corp, Igenex and ispot lyme. Ispot is gaining respect. I think it is fairly accurate. I went back on treatment a year ago today for a relapse. I took the ispot -lyme test and was a solid positive. I was back on antibiotics and 5 months later took the test again. There was no change. I was still sick. My doctor changed up one of the antibiotics, but I needed something completely different. Antibiotics no longer worked for me. Having proof that the treatment wasn't working was what I needed to confidently say no to antibiotics and do something different.
I am now doing Buhner and am making progress. I would love take the test again, but it is expensive and not covered by insurance.

Purple Tulip - are you willing to share how much it costs?

Sure. The first time I ran it through the insurance hoping they'd pay for it. It was somewhere between 450 and just under 500. The second time I payed for it up front, still hoping an appeal would go through (it was rejected) and the price was lower. But it was still about
400 dollars. If you need the exact amounts, I have receipts.
Btw when you take the test you fill out a symptom questionnaire as well as the supplements/mess you are taking.

Thanks...no I don't need exact amounts - just an approximate is fine.
I know a few LL Dr.'s in my neck of the woods are using it instead of Igenex WB.
Does the same lab do Bart testing, too?

It seems like they are quite Lyme literate with all the test they provide.
And yes Bart and Babs is on the menu as well as metal testing and adrenal fatigue. This link I found is quite fascinating. Sorry I don't know how to hyperlink it.

My daughter just had elispot which I was told is the german version of ispot. He recommended because it is cheaper. Son had it too but was negative. He had a negative IgeneX test but some IND on specific bands so we are not sure. Will likely repeat elispot in a few months to see if treatment brought anything out.
Does anyone know if in fact elispot and ispot are the same test? Elispot was around same price as IgeneX WB.

For anyone who would like to know how to make a hyperlink, I will try to explain.
You'll want to copy and paste any link you'd like to share.
At the beginning of the link, you'll want to type these brackets: [ ] with the following letters inside the brackets: url
At the end of the link, you'll want to type those same brackets [ ] with the following slash and letters inside the brackets: /url
It's very hard to explain things otherwise without actually creating a hyperlink of your words.
Hope this helps.
