I've never taken Alka Seltzer products. I've seen a lot of people mention Alka Seltzer Gold for detoxing. What's the story with this?

Is it carbonated water? It looks like they specifically mention it does not contain asprin, which is good, because I'm prone to ulcers which is something NSAIDs cause.

I'm taking a couple different abx with meals and am concerned about developing stomach ulcers, so I take them with a large meal. Maybe Alka Seltzer Gold could help stomach issues?

I believe the way it works is by changing your body from acidic to more alkaline which is a healthier state.

I had some issues with my throat when I was taking minocycline and the ASG did help. So it might be helpful for your stomach issues.

It WORKS!!!! Better than any of the other detox products ive tried. Including chlorella, cholestyramine, lemon water ect.....

I've taken Alka Seltzer Plus to help with colds (it does :) but, that's it.

Based upon the recommendations here, I've taken Alka Seltzer Gold to help with herxes - it works great.

In fact, in my early days following Buhner, I was taking it twice daily (since I'd read Chapelle's report of doing so). It really made a difference.

I get mine on Amazon (it's not usually sold in stores for some reason)

I've never tried it but I had indigestion and I guess it was heart burn so I just did baking soda (1 teasp) in about 1 cup and boy did I get relief.

I take it every day....once a day for maintenance...twice if herxing. I can't drink lemon water so it helps with keeping the body alkaline. It is part of my regime to deal with herxing.

I'm so happy you posted this. I found some at my local CVS store and was wondering how to use it for detoxing and/or herxing. Do you just put 2 tablets in a glass of water and drink it 1x a day for help with detox or do you take more? Any suggestions are appreciated! :)

I used to use 2 tablets in water twice daily for detoxing.....and I'd take it more often if herxing.

It helps with Candida die-off symptoms but does not treat Candida.

It actually helped my headaches so much that I could continue taking my Antibiotics. Pretty amazing but one of my antibiotics does say to not take with this type of stuff. So I take it 2 hours before.
Has to be the Gold.

What antibiotic says not to take with stuff like Alka Seltzer Gold?

I ask only because one of our members who is a pharmacist said that she always took Alka Seltzer Gold at the same time as her abx so I thought it was OK.

I certainly don't want to steer people wrong and greatly appreciate your input.

I'm not sure how to reply to specific person.

My omnicef, Zithromax, and Minocin all state do not take antacids within 2 hours of this drug.
Also on Walgreens alka seltzer gold under uses it says antacids may interact cwith certain prescription drugs.

Should I take a picture of my medicine counseling notes. The pharmacy went over these with me when I picked up prescription.

I tried it. I felt better, but also toxic at the same time, if that makes sense.

I'm inclined to think that it was just the toxins floating around, but, due to all of my other food and chemical sensitivities, I get the feeling my system just doesn't like the mannitol in it.

It could be both, I don't know.

Oh well.
