I have been aggressively treating my systemic candida the past few weeks and while speaking with my primary care I mentioned some of my continuing vision/hearing issues.

She decided to send me in for a brain MRI and an ultrasound on my carotid arteries....Yesterday I received a call from the nurse and she said that the results of the ultrasound were significant and that the doctor wants me to have an MRI of the carotid ASAP. My appointment is now scheduled for next Tuesday...

I am really in shock over the situation... I am in my early 50's, I exercise, I have never smoked, I weigh 175 and I'm 6'0 tall...
My blood pressure is usually in the 120/80 range... My father had a buildup in his carotid and had surgery in his 70's so I don't feel immune to the possibility but it still seems unlikely...

I started doing some research about candida and arteriosclerosis and I was surprised to see that there is a potential relationship between arterial inflammation and candida... Since an ultrasound is measuring density and flow I can imagine that plaque and inlammation could show a restricted artery... Since I did this test in the middle of some significant candida die off symptoms I wonder if it could have affected the ultrasound...i would appreciate any insight ..... Thanks

I'm sorry you're dealing with this.

You could be onto something that candida die-off is clogging your artery but, I don't know if that could really be the case. I have absolutely no knowledge on the subject - sorry.

One thing that comes to mind, though, is Serrapeptase. It's great at keeping arteries clear....and many LLMD's use it to treat biofilm.

Oh my gosh I would be so scared. Hopefully it is just a bad test. We all know that you can have bad tests.

But regardless, it is still a concern and just another thing to worry about.

I will report back when I get more definitive results....Interestingly... I was taking diflucan when I had the ultrasound done...

The article that I found discussed the candida and arterial inflammation...( arteritis ) Which can lead to plaque build up.... I guess in theory, if you can rid yourself of the candida, the inflammation goes away. Autoimmune issues cause internal inflammation. I suppose arteries could be on the list of internal organs that are attacked.

I had no idea there was a Candida - artery plaque build up connection.

Q- Was it not untill candida treatment that you noticed the hearing vision issues?

Q) Have you ever had the mysterious heart beat sound, slight pulse pressure feel in your left ear at at or layng down? Ive read about this, not on this forum though.

I've treated candida many times and never herxed till duflican use this last summer. I felt these sudden heat waves in the daytime, sweated ect. Never herxed on nystatin or candida herbs. Years ago before treatment I woke up to short term 80% blind (dark), I thought it was from lyme, but now you have me thinking. The "light" came back fully in two days, that was that.

Arterial inflammation...( arteritis) never came to my mind since my lipid panel looks great and I've always had an athletic build at 6ft, 175#. I have autoimmune too. That said, lean people get strokes too.

Q)Do you have a favorite link handy for this topic? As a product of the 60's, ( I'm a collectable now), artery build up is something I should not ignore.

I noticed the vision and hearing issues long before the candida treatment began... Though I believe that I was dealing with active candida long before I recognized it...

My hearing issues are more of a white noise (ringing)


When I googled Arteritis and read the Wikipedia definition I noticed this note.

"An example of a secondary arteritis is arteritis caused by infection with the fungal pathogen Candida albicans.[6]"

I also read the study that cd3764 provided.

Interestingly... There is an autoimmune condition called Takayasu's which is associated with arterial inflammation.... It's usually associated with primarily Asian women in their mid 20's....

As for treating the candida... 3 things I have added recently to diet and antifungals...kefir...undecylenic acid.... Nettle leaf tea ( instead of coffee)

I used to get the white noise buzz too. I think a lot of us do, or did.

It was worse when all my other past symptoms were raging, back when death felt near. We obviously get more self aware about all these weird things, but there all intertwined in some way.

Interesting thread.

I have the pulsatile tinnitus - more pronounced in my left year.
It was a lot worse prior to treatment (but after I got LD) - in fact it's barely negligible in the right and a lot better in the right.

I only feel it when my ear is on the pillow.

I looked up a condition that often comes with Polymyalgia Rheumatica - think it's called Giant cell Arteritis - I will have to check that.

Of course that worries me because I have the upper left side issues - nerve pain, etc. and recently was worried about a block in my neck artery. I feel a weaker pulse in my left wrist but my husband doesn't agree - says left and right are equal....
I just don't know what to think so I just try to forget about it....I know its the "bury your head in the sand" technique.

Wow...........the "left ear pulse/beat" people are coming out of the woodwork!

This was very noticable as I said back in my "dieing days".

No Drs could figure it out.

Did I space out here (it happens!)? What does stinging neddles help here? I hate the stuff, its up there with skeeters and ticks!

It would seem mentally changeling to eat something that itches so much on the skin. Is there no danger of allergic response when its heated?

Easily found around here (vs my unsuccessful chaga hunt). However, I'll always be looking for chaga in my winter adventures.

Astro - From what I've read the gold standard for testing is a biopsy. There are sometimes markers of inflammation in blood tests, usually hits people who are over 50 years old. I also read that often the swelling of the arteries can be felt on the head (I think the temple area)
Also, headaches are often a symptom (I have had only one headache in over two years- grasping at anything I can..lol)

Girlie...

I asked my rheumatologist about GCA a couple years ago while we were having a discussion about Polymyalgia as the source for my shoulder pain... He said that he had only seen it a couple of times and that it was always present with severe headaches.....

As for the nettle leaf tea... I would recommend that everyone avoid the Alvita brand... I have tried three brands and the Alvita tea has an overwhelming odor and taste similar to ammonia... (Even in the package) ... The other brands do not smell or taste that way...
