New User- Really just looking for some help with what i have going on..i'll try to break it down.

10/1/15: Deer Tick

10/10/15: First symptom stabbing abdominal pain; went to ER. Everything was normal except platelets were low at 119. And here is how my platelets have been dropping since..

10/16: 109

10/26: 107

11/10: 98

12/1: 89

Everything else in CBC is considered normal besides the thrombocytopenia.

Other symptoms that have showed up after ER trip:
Random short lasting sharp pains from head to toe(happening in random spots)
Random tingling/vibrating sensation (fingers, toes, nose)
Random muscle twitching/spasms all over the place (started in lower stomach)
Lots of random abdominal discomfort and pain as well as chest pain
Hot flashes especially at night
Light blotchy red rash (itchy) in forearms and all over face (both way more noticeable after showering)
Tiny pen tip sized bright red dots all over arms/shoulders as well as increased red acne (haven't had acne on shoulders in years from what i can remember)

I also had one rash that looked like two parallel lines but i can't be sure they were bartonella rashes (have pictures of everything i can upload)

My current Dr. has done testing through quest and everything including bartonella came back negative(blood drawn 12/1 for testing). However when i first went for an appointment he gave me doxy 200mg for 21 days as a precaution. This was on 10/26. I thought it might have been slowly helping but can't be sure as the symptoms at that time weren't what they are now.

I'm just reaching out hoping that someone had a similar presentation and can help me get a clue at what I'm dealing with here.

Hi Onetwofoureight - welcome to our community!

The deer tick - along with symptoms does look like you have Lyme disease.

Most testing is unreliable/inaccurate - but your best chances are testing with Igenex Lab in California.

Because you had a tick bite and symptoms that followed the bite, my advice to you is to find a Lyme Literate MD (LLMD) and schedule an appointment.

We can help you find one: Just start a new thread titled;"Looking for LLMD in/near___" and fill in the blank.
Also, when you have a moment, you might want to take a look at the thread at the top of the page titled; "New to Lyme?...Start Here!" It's full of good information - symptom lists, info on probiotics, detoxing suggestions, and much more.

You made the right decision in coming here. You'll definitely want to take Girlie's advice, get testing and treatment through the proper channels, use the information here to help along the way.

It probably goes without saying, as it sounds like you're already dealing with quite a few of the symptoms, but this is very serious stuff.

Do everything you can NOW, 'cause I don't want you to have to know any more of the feeling of going from bad to worse, new low after new low. It gets to where you'll start wishing you could just be as sick as you were the month before, which is so sad.

Sorry for the reason you're here but glad you found us.

I, too, was given 21 days of 200mg doxy after the tick bite. My signature tells the rest of my story.

Please understand that mainstream labs don't properly test for Lyme and the tests for the coinfections are even worse. And, even the best labs can't necessarily confirm or rule out coinfections.

Reason being: there are more strains of these bacteria than tests available to confirm or rule out their presence.

Even the CDC says Lyme and its coinfections are diagnosed clinically - based upon symptoms.

That said, your symptoms sure sound like Lyme and Bartonella and possibly other infections. (tick saliva is like a salad bowl so it's unusual to get only Lyme)

Another option for finding a LLMD is to use the physician referral feature on the ILADS site (ILADS = International Lyme and Associated Diseases society that is cutting edge)

Oh, forgot to mention...

If your symptoms got worse or changed after starting doxy, that's even more confirmation that you're dealing with Lyme and its coinfections.

You see, as the bugs get killed, our body develops inflammation from the dead bug toxins.....and that causes an increase in symptoms or the development of new ones - this is known as a Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction.

Lyme is the only infection besides syphilis that causes herxes.

Ok thanks I'll start a new thread looking for a llmd. Did anyone have a platelet problem or is that more of a sign of a coinfection like bartonella and/or babesia?
