Swede-It sounds like Babesia to me. Have you treated for Babs at all?

Is this only happening when you lie down? Is it positional? If so how is your vision? Any double vision?

Make sure you are drinking enough water. Take your body weight and divide it in half. That number in ounces is how much you should drink a day.

For example, if you weigh 100 pounds you should drink 50 ounces of water a day.

Now add a little lemon and help those buggers get out of you.

Of course you will go to the bathroom a lot, but each time just think you are flushing away chetes!

Have you heard of people who can barely go for a walk without triggering muscle contractions, spasms?
I am so very worried that i am treating lyme, not getting better - when there is something else going on.
My LLMD has not heard of the muscle contractions, and it is my main symptom! Every single muscle, from the large thigh and back muscles to the tiny finger and face muscles contract. It hurts terrible, and they will not relax on their own. Every day this contraction renders my whole being stiff and in terrible pain. When i lie down and try to relax the electrical surge is just horrible. The pressure, the pain...

Swede, I am not treating anything right now. I had a lot of improvement when I first started Plaquenil and did very well for a long time. I had lots of complications in my family life that meant I couldn't be down for even a small period of time (I was responsible for two sick elderly parents who lived 700 miles away, with many more complications) so I couldn't risk herxing.

Just a few weeks ago, my sweats came back and my husband asked if I could be herxing. Not exactly in those words, but the idea. I then got some updated results (or interpretation) for my 23 and me results. I realized that all the detox pathways were either blocked or partially blocked.

I was about to go on a vacation with my family (including my daughter who had moved away in January) and realized I was feeling the worst I had in almost a year. So I stopped the Plaquenil along with the new things I had added once i started researching Lyme. Things backed off enough that I was able to enjoy my vacation.

When I was reading your post, I had not realized I had not admitted that although I felt better in some ways in other I had regressed. So i think that the Plaquenil was helping to fight the Babesia, but I was also herxing and with my detox pathways not working the dead parasites were just building up in my system. All the symptoms you mentioned are ones that I've had and have resurfaced recently more strongly than others.

The muscle spasms are something that have been a problem for a long time. I don't recall from the symptoms lists if they are the result of Babesia or something else. But I do and have always had them really bad. I get twitching and and around my eyes. The two worse though are in my back right near the end of my shoulder blade and inside my throat. The shoulder blade one feels like I have actually been stabbed and frequently causes me to jump and startle other people. The throat one is scarier. It is like being stabbed but also the muscle doesn't loosen, so I can't swallow and I get more stabbing pain if I try to length out the muscle by tilting my chin. It's like it creates a knot that won't loosen and continues to spasm and cause sharp pains for anywhere from 10 min to an hour.

So I understand how you feel. I had a terrible time until my doc finally decided to try Soma. It's pharmaceutical and works really good for me but docs don't like it because it becomes physically addicting. Not in the I'll do anything just or a hit addicting, but more that some muscles (the heart especially) become dependent on it and if you with draw too quickly, it can have serious effects.

So I don't really have ay answers for you. IF you are working with a good herbalist or LLND they might have ideas. Burner's book Natural Treatments for Lyme Confections talks about Babesia and the book is fairly recent (not Healing Lyme which is the newest.

Unfortunately, IV abx takes a doctor willing to write the script and a bag of money to pay for it. I don't know of a single US insurance company that will pay for it. Even if you find a doc, insurance companies say it's "experimental" so they don't have to pay. It's also expensive.

Sad but true, that's why so many people are turning to herbals.

sorry to be gone for hours. the pain started in and escalated worse than ever. i didnt sleep even for 10 minutes, the pain and pressure so intense. Despite taking melatonin and esgic (a last resort barbiturate)
jrpsf - i should try a foam roller. but i am afraid my contractions are different - they are accompanied by/caused by an intense electrical surge. The bottoms of my feet curl in, like a foot cramp, and same with my spine and sometimes my facial muscles, distorting my face. this surge rolls in waves and as the hours pass the pressure in my head and spine becomes excruciating.

gkamom, i too have the throat spasm, with bad pain. did you treat for babesia and the spasms subsided?
how long did you treat? were you tested for babesia?
i am losing hope. i cant go on like this.

Sounds rough not a good present. Are you staying hydrated with your bm running?
Are they black dark ? Maybe cdiff ...if it is just herx that and awful lot of stress to put on body...can tini cause nerve damage like metro? I was thinking about getting iv at start of year have had it for about the same amount of time. Withdrawl the tini?alinia will bust cysts too. Maybe baclofen ,extreme mag and glutithione? Please keep us posted

sounds awful swede my heart goes out to you. i'm one of the few that actually tested positive for babesia duncani and the only common symptom i have is the chest tightness. many of your symptoms do sound like babesia though as it tends to spike in the afternoon/evening. some random thoughts/questions:

do you notice a severity of symptoms every 4-7 day cycles?

tinidazole does have action against all 3 forms of lyme and babesia though its not a first line for it.

rocephin is a 3rd generation cephalosporin like omnicef. its an excellent drug for many to combat lyme, babs, bartonella and other nasty critters esp. combined with tinidazole. the omnicef/tinidazole combo knocked out most of my lyme symptoms after unsuccessfully treating babesia first when i was originally infected.

you might want to look at treating potentially babs first using zithromax/mepron to start. zithro also will go after 2 forms of lyme. the babesia may be the worst of your symptoms.

diarrhea is bad, very bad esp if its consistent. you should probably talk to your doctor about it he'll probably switch you up.

I couldnt sit down and answer yesterday, the pain was relentless. I slept last night, finally, after hours of massage and 1mg of melatonin.
reading your thoughts it seems i likely have babesia - and that my current abx (IV rocephin and Tinidazole) will help kill it, even though it is not as effective as the first line combo of malarone and zithro?
I dont think i can handle adding that to the rocephin and tini, at least not now.
Based on your advice, I am going to start doing sauna 3 times per week.
Its funny, but as long as i know this is a herx, i may be able to push through. I am just so worried that it is neither lyme or babs, but something else.
i dont have muscle cramps, but a full body contorting. The electricity through my teeth is so incredibly powerful I can feel the current. It even makes the zinging electric sound sometimes. my saliva bubbles from the current and if i dont keep my mount open, the pressure builds to such a powerful level that my jaw muscles and throat spasm involuntarily (while my toes move and spine slowly arches, then falls as teh current rolls in waves)

I took active charcoal and the diarrhea subsided, for now... I too was very afraid it was C diff.
Can it be latent C diff, even if it responds to a binder?
not to be gross, but my stools are full of mucus?

Hi Little Bear - thanks for your concern, I too was afraid i had Tetanus, but I was checked by a neurologist and supposedly I dont. They say my muscle testing came back normal. But i was tested in the morning, when my muscles were almost relaxed. As the day progresses it gets worse, to peak when i lay down. I become rigid with increasing electric surges and spasms :(
I have given up on neurologists. They look at me with disdain and seem to think i am exaggerating - when i cannot even describe it as horribly as it actually is.

I cannot believe how we all suffer. you cannot talk? that is so frightening! is it toxin overload?
HOw long have you been sick/treating? Do you treat with abx and/or herbs?
