Hansa Centre?

Hello there!
I am seriously considering going to the Hansa Centre to get treatment for my chronic Lyme, bartonella, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and typhus. I also have immune problems, candida, and more.
I am wondering what other people on here have experienced with the Hansa Centre. Did they help you? What were the treatments like? Were there any side effects? What were the doctors like? How long did you go for? What else do you think a new patient at Hansa should know?
I've already looked at their website and received the New Patient Package, but I'm interested to hear first-hand from clients what it's actually like there.

Hansa Center has helped many people and I always suggest to people before going to first read Dr. Jernigan's book called "Beating Lyme Disease" as well as watch the Hansa Video's, learn as much as you can about biological medicine so you know what to expect and how the doctors at Hansa treat people.

No matter what clinic a person goes to when they get home if they are not in the habit of detoxing, eating healthy, lowering stress levels, etc. then not one clinic is going to help. I don't mean to sound negative as I think Hansa is one of the best clinics out there (my personal opinion based on the people I know who went there).

As has already been mentioned, we took our daughter to the Hansa Center for 2 weeks in march of 2010. We are convinced that our daughter would not be where she is today if we had not taken her there.

I strongly suggest that you read ItisLyme's post and also go to her website. She provides some more detailed explanation of her treatments there.

Our daughter (Heather) also experienced noticeable daily improvements. As treatments were administered she would sometimes experience transient unpleasant sensations/nausea/ or pain. None of this was longlasting or severe. She definitely felt a lot better at the end of the 2 weeks.

Heather twice returned to the clinic for short treatments during that year. She also continued to take some herbal remedies at home for about 10 months after treatment was started. The doc's at Hansa are quite skilled at diagnosing the patient's problems, which may be many. It is NEVER just the microbes! In my daughter's case she also had jaw and mouth problems that was causing her Autonomic Nervous System to go into a state of fight or flight. This in turn suppressed her immune system. She had low Nitric Oxide which caused poor blood circulation and regulation, as well as immune suppression. She also had adrenal fatigue with low cortisol production which also suppresses the immune system. All of these issues were addressed at the Hansa Center, but were completely undiagnosed by her previous LLMD's.

Heather had many different symptoms including severe gallbladder pain. The gallbladder was drained and all pain was eliminated while at the clinic. I could go on and on. The many treatments and equipment that they employ will probably be unfamiliar to you except perhaps for a few such as FIR sauna, Ionic Foot Detox, and therapeutic massage. Everything is noninvasive. All herbals and supplements are tested for compatibility when taken together and also for compatibility with the patient. This is a huge issue that a relatively small percentage of doc's are even trained to do.

The doctors at the Hansa Center do not use a canned "protocol." They instead use the best of almost 4000 different herbs and many different "hands on" treatments which are custom tailored to the requirements of each patient. They use many different energetically based treatments which target blocked and impeded energy flows and fields in the body.

The physicians and staff seem to genuinely exercise compassion for their patients, and the whole atmosphere is very conducive to healing. I believe that most patients benefit greatly and are glad that they went. My daughter absolutely loved the Hansa Center!

I am so happy for you that you are responding well to treatment! I went to your website and read your daily posts. Yep, I can identify with your experience. I understand that they have added a few new treatments such as the Bemer. What is it and what does it do?

There is another forum member with an 8 year old daughter that is being treated at the Hansa Center right now. This would also be their second week there as well. You might want to say hi if you haven't already.

hi- I occasionally browse or post on here. I am a patient at the Hansa Center. I went three separate times in the past year. they are wonderful! I recommend it absolutely.

You can call and speak to the new patient coordinator there.
Usually for lyme patients they recommend a 2 week initial visit. The treatments are all gentle and the dr's are fantastic. I would be happy to answer any more specific questions you had.

I will mostly just be doing treatment with Hansa during this time because I don't need anything else. I will still see my chiropractor and he wants me to find some place to do a few therapies when k get home. Otherwise I do not personally need to see another doctor, it varies per patient.

I copy below a post I made a few years ago. I suspect there is a lot of placebo effect healing at Hansa (which is still healing btw), they even show you a video on this while you are doing your misleading foot baths......

I went to Hansa for the 2 week program. I walked out as sick as I walked in. Other people I was there with had the same experience. I do believe they help some people, but I don't think they really understand why some and not others.

I found some of the treatments rather dubious. For example, you do a foot sauna every day. Day 1 they told me the water turning brown was caused by toxins coming out of my foot. This has been unambiguously disproved in peer reviewed research, the brown color comes from the electrodes.

I complained to my Doc about this and he said the staff member should not have told me that, the he would make sure they stopped, and that the real benefit was shooting ions into the body (itself a claim backed by no science, but I digress…). However, next week I heard a new patient being told exactly the same toxins story. Really. Not. Good.

As far as the remedies are concerned these are all based on Dr Jernigan's bio-resonance technique which I believe is genuinely amazing. However, the science essentially comes in two parts and I am very dubious of the latter. Basically bio-resonance testing enables him to pick up the frequencies of toxins in your body, for example bio-resonance testing finds a lot of Lyme patients have excess ammonia. So far so good. He potentially deserves awards for this part imo.

However, the next stage is he gives you a remedy that is basically a substance with the opposing frequency to the toxin. Just holding a vial of the remedy over your body will negate the detected frequency of the toxin. I buy this, its basic physics, opposing wave forms cancel each other out.

However, I see no reason why ingesting said remedy will do anything biologically to the organism or toxin. I believe the frequencies just cancel out when they are both present - that's it. When I asked Dr. J how the remedies would help me he told me the body’s immune system "learns" the frequency from the remedy. This is a highly problematic statement to me.

First, though not a scientist, I am aware of no research (or even theories) that the body's immune system uses specific frequencies to kill invaders. Second, even if it did, I have no idea how it would know to use the frequency of one substance among the gazillions ingested. As an aside, I am a fan of energy based medicine (rife machines etc), but the immune system is not a rife machine.

So, basically, I think Hansa remedies and the Hansa center are rolling the dice on some pretty dubious science. But, as I said, some people do appear to get well there, so if you can afford it roll away.

I would also caution you that the same handful of people show up on all the forums singing the praises of Hansa. I do not doubt their integrity, but I do believe the silent majority likely receives no benefit. [img]
