Just taking a poll. I've read that Rh- people may have more sensitive immune systems? Plus Dr. Steve Harris said that anybody who has "A" allele in blood type, is more resistant to traditional Lyme treatment - Abx & such. Don't know if it applies to Buhner.
Only 15% have Rh-, so if we get more than that 15% - that would be interesting. 😊
I have AB- bloodtype (rare).
Let me know about
you. I'm very interested!

I am RH- and so is my husband. He has also tested positive for lyme.
When I was pregnant, my Dr. made me take the blood product (can't remember what it was called) - in case our baby wasn't negative, I would produce antibodies - which could be harmful to the fetus.
It wasn't necessary - since both of us were RH- as our baby would also be RH-.....but the Dr. insisted - just in case my husband wasn't the father of the baby.
I should have refused...I KNEW he was the father....what a pushover I was then!!!
I don't even know what my blood type is anymore (I know - sounds terrible) - I never gave blood, and it's not written down anywhere. I used to know - but have forgotten.
I asked my Dr. about
mine and my son's about
10 years ago...and he said he didn't know...you'd think it would be written down on our files. And, then I said we should know...in case he needed a transfusion...and the Doc said they check at the time because they need to know much more than just the blood type - to do a donor match....

And to not trust me that I KNEW my husband was the father - and since he's RH-, too it wasn't necessary.

I'm O+
So what you are saying is that people with blood types other than A should have an easier time with traditonal treatment?

Well apparently so far Lyme likes O+ blood type.

I read an article about
Mosquitos being more attracted to certain blood types, don't remember what it was, have to dig for it. But I wonder if ticks are same way, and I believe I got from Mosquitos.
Kinda off topic but....

I seem to be the odd man out because I'm pretty sure I'm A+.
Girlie, I wouldn't beat yourself up about
them not taking your word about
your husband. If they took your word for it and didn't give you the "blood product", then if there was a problem you could sue them for malpractice. To be fair to the docs, people sue for malpractice over anything.
My niece (not the one giving me problems) miscarried her first baby because she was Rh- and the baby was Rh+. She didn't even know she was Rh-, so when she got pregnant a second time they automatically gave her the blood product.
The blood product is safe, so better safe than sorry.
Few people know their blood type and again if they take your word for it and you're wrong they are libel. It's very easy and quick to run your blood type. It's pretty much a standard test that is run when ever they do any blood work. For example, my Dad has had several surgeries in the last 2 months. Before he went into surgery they did a normal workup and part of that was blood typing. If he needed a transfusion (and he did), they need to know his blood type. They can't wake him up and ask, so they just do it.
It would be interesting to know what the actual statistics are, but it's unlikely the data is available. It seems that everyone who responded is type O so it seems like a pattern. But it's more likely that people who are O will respond because they are a universal donor and it sticks in your mind once you are told. Same with AB. Blood types A and B are more common, so even if people ever knew it doesn't stick because it's not unusual.

"O" blood type is most common blood type. Do you "A" blood types or "AB" blood types have trouble digesting food? A lot of people I know with "A" allele in blood type, have sensitive stomachs. Just curious. Thanks for telling me your blood types! good luck with your Lyme disease.

I'm AB+ but no real trouble digesting foods.

A+ with lots of intestinal issues, but I was infected at such an early age, who knows if I would have had them had I not been infected so early in my life?

B+
My daughter is a- and has had a lot of hormone ups and downs but has Tested negative so far with Lyme. My doctor wanted her retested. She hasn't done it yet. I'm not sure blood type has a lot to do with this. O is the universal donor. So don't give blood!
My son has a few health issues (I suspect Lyme) but has also tested negative. He is ab.

I agree with you, Purple Tulip. I'm not convinced either, but this is a recurring subject on this forum, and I still find it interesting, but it all depends on just who is posting currently as to what these threads reveal.

A+
Lot of GI issues, but I am pretty sure that I have had Lyme and co-infections that went misdiagnosed for 27 years.
