Sorry to hear about the increase in pain!

Unfortunately, we can experience new symptoms or a worsening of existing symptoms when starting thyroid meds or increasing the dose. It's not a herx or anything like that necessarily but more the body adjusting to new amounts of thyroid hormone.

Hopefully, your doctor is having you either increase the dose in 2-3 wks. or getting labs before an expected dose increase. Going much longer can prolong the agony.

Its totally normal for some people to have increased symptoms when starting thyroid meds. You body is changing at the celluar level for the good, this takes about 6 weeks, which is why your Dr will test your thyroid levels in 6 weeks again.

Most likely you will get hot flashes too for a couple weeks, its increasing hormone after all.

People freak out about this, of course Drs dont tell you this will happen.

Starting on a low dose and ramping up 15mg per week will extend the process, but make it easier to handle. Ask your dr about this possibility, you can split these somewhat with a pill splitter.

Just have to tough it out. Use ibuprophen if your stomack is good.

Armour is pig thyroid. Are you alergic to pork? If you are this is obviously rare.

Many peoples experience with reactions starting on any thyroid med with T3 in it, is from the T3. It takes the body sometime to get used to additional t3.

If your adrenals are "taxed" or your iron ferritan is low, T3 is difficult. Read up on stop the thyroid madness about this.

No one here can make Rx decisians for someone.

Personally, Ive tried many thyroid meds, starting over from scratch, and was misserable the first three weeks.

I also new my adrenals were taxed and took adrenal adaptogens to help this issue.

People told me of the light at the end of the tunnel, so I held on. In my case the T3 helps me, where T4 only did nothing for my thyroid symptoms.

This seemed difficult untill I herxed three months on ABX.

Nothing here is easy, life isnt easy. we just do what we need to do.

You might consider an adrenal saliva 24 hr 4 point test.

They are very helpfull, the basic is around $150 at the cheapest.

If this is out of whack, the thyroid wont respond properly to meds.
