Hi Misty,
I don't know when I originally contracted Lyme (Borellia) but it was somewhere around 1997-2000. I didn't know back then that my occasional issues weren't allergies, migraines, the flu, etc. My health would wane and sway for years. I used to go hiking and camping all the time and also ran an animal shelter and came in contact with a lot of dogs that had Tick Fever (Erlichia). I never remember EVER being bitten by a tick, but sometimes they are so small you never see them. Who knows, maybe Lyme CAN be transmitted via saliva (I got a lot of puppy kisses)?
I contracted Bartonella about 18 months ago sitting in my office at work and I got bitten by a spider on my legs twice in about 30 seconds. Within a week, I started feeling like I had loose hairs on my neck, arms, hands (neuro symptoms of bart). It was winter time and within a month I thought I came down with a little bout of the flu. Within three months, I was highly symptomatic.
You can live in a city and Lyme is all around you. Birds carry ticks, mosquitoes are all over, there are spiders around. Lots of ucky bugs even in cities.
I hope that you are able to move forward and receive the care you need. I wish you the best!
Jenny
