Thank you all again for all of your help with my questions.

My docs are treating me as if I have Lyme even though they think it could be a false positive due to CMV and EBV and no exposure to ticks that I know of (IgM positive on 23 and 41, negative on IgG.) They say the symptoms overlap and it isn't clear but regardless, they gave me 200 mgs of doxy (100 2x a day) for a month. It sounds like you don't think that's enough... What would be enough in your experience assuming it is Lyme? I know everyone is different, but should I try to stay on that longer?

I am feeling much, much better today after a week on antibiotics, but I felt like CRAP three days ago after 5 days on antibiotics and it was like, the worst day of my life. I'm scared to trust feeling better the last two days after a month of feeling like crap...

I appreciate your help!

My GP prescribed the exact same dose of doxy for me (only 21 days) the day after I pulled the tick out of my abdomen. That was July 2014.

I had no symptoms after the bite but shortly after starting doxy, I developed some (a herx).

ILADS recommends treating for 2 months past complete resolution of symptoms. Once symptoms develop, they recommend at least 2 and possibly 3 antibiotics be taken concurrently.

You have no idea how much I regret not learning this soon enough.

And, you'll also find a link to the 2008 guidelines which I find easier to read.

There's also a link about the ILADS/IDSA controversy. IDSA guidelines are what fail most Lyme patients and those are the guidelines uneducated doctors follow.

The IDSA guidelines have been removed as of last month. IDSA had to renew their guidelines and did not.

That eliminates the controversy. Any doctor who tries to go by the IDSA guidelines hasn't kept up to date. The only guidelines that exist for Lyme are ILADS.

By the way, your docs are misinformed about the false positive Lyme......you have it and an ILADS-trained LLMD would acknowledge this and treat you for it.

So it sounds like you need at least 300 mg of doxy a day for about 3 months? Plus which one?
