Immunoscience testing for co-infections?

That's who my llnd is testing me thru, I couldn't find much info about them but I bit the bullet and went ahead with the test. Should be getting results soon.

The dr I've been working with a while (not the llnd who ordered this test for me), said as a microbiologist with an expertise in running his own diagnostic lab he doesn't believe it is the greatest test/technology and that it gets a lot of positives. But he did admit it could have some value, which coming from him is high praise in a way.

I have no idea, frankly I'm just happy to get more information if possible. I've come to terms with the fallibility of all the borrelia/coinfections tests. I'm willing to take some leaps of faith and invest resources in such a test, because if I get any positives it could help direct and target my treatments. At this point I'm trusting my llnd. For what it's worth, I had his treatment plan vetted by another llmd who said my llnd def knows what he is doing.

Hello! That is the lab my LLMD had my blood work tested through. My results came back positive for Lyme and 3 co~infections. Keep us updated on your results! Have a great Tuesday!

Hey Sniogra! that's great that you got some results to work with!

In a way, hard to say if good or bad, but my results came back indeterminate/negative. My llnd said some of the results may indicate that the sample was heat damaged which would be a bummer. We are going to keep treating with my current therapies since the meds seem really effective.

Excited that your results will allow you to treat with more targeted specific therapies!

I was tested by Igenix first and my test was indeterminate. 6 months later I tested with ImmunoSciences and I tested positive for Lyme, Bartonella, Babesia and Ehrlichia. So basically I have nothing bad to say about them and encourage you to go ahead with it.

I have the exact same results as you. still trying to figure out if this is accurate or if it is a chance at a false positive

I am 29 year old female. Have had strange hospitalizations all of my life for random unknown viruses. Diagnosed with RA at 19 but negative RH factor...had joint pain and swelling. Lots of problems with endometriosis and heavy bleeding. Also severe depression, brain dog and debilitating OCD. Sought mental health treatment.

My mother also has been hospitalized multiples times and struggles with random strange things that they attribute to RA as well...she also is neg for RH factor. In and out of wheel chair with swelling on ONE side of leg and ankle, nodules on long screaming autoimmune issue.

I've always thought I had autoimmune problems but not specified. July of 14 I started getting even more tired and depressed. Attributed to chronic fatigue syndrome. By March 2015 I was in and out of ER with vertigo and what we thought was just depression and mal nutrition.

Hospitalization in July 2015 led to a POTS diagnosis. Dizziness, nausea, light headed, extreme malaise and lethargy, headaches, severe calf itching, soles of feet m, cold sweats, scalp pain, pre syncope, all class Dysautonomia symptoms like blood pooling in calves and discoloration.

POTS research led to a possible Lyme Infection. finally after much trouble and months and months of calling around I found a LLMD 6 hours a way to test me. Immunoscience came back and

Elisa igG- "slightly positive" for Borellia which I read counts as negative although I know controversial

Elisa igM- positive for Borellia/Babesia/Ehrlichia/Bartonella

Western Blot on IgG bands 41 and 58
On IgM Bands 23 and 41

It says if IgM is positive and IGG neg and you've been sick longer than 6 weeks it means a false positive. I haven't met with my doctor about these results yet bc he is 6 hours Away and I still have other blood work to do and get back before I go for next appt so I've had to decipher these myself.

I know I can get a clinical diagnosis with these results. I just don't think they qualify for CDC standards (which I know is a crappy standeEd anyway). I was just hoping to not have to fight that j actually have it. I also can't help but think it is something autoimmune. But that 23 is pretty specific for Lyme...so I just don't know.

Can the igM co-infections be false positives or no? Seems like everyone from Immunoscience gets all these co infection positives. Is it too sensitive?

Anyway, any insight would be helpful. I figured this post was too old but I can't find this info anywhere else on the web regarding Immunoscience lab results.

Severe depression is also a common symptom of Lyme. I am not sure about OCD or endometriosis, but I believe OCD is also a symptom of Lyme.

It certainly sounds like you have Lyme disease in my opinion, but I am going by your symptoms. I am not an expert on reading the test results, but from what I have seen, even the slightest indication means you have it. As for the co-infections being a false positive, I don't know about that either. I have not heard anyone say they had a false positive co-infection. I don't believe any of mine are a false positive, as I have symptoms of all of them.

I hope someone else can chime in about the test results and give you some clearer answers. If no one picks up on this thread please start a new thread maybe entitled, "Help needed with reading Lyme test results".

Positive IgM bands 23 and 41 is POSITIVE - no it is not a false positive.

This excerpt is from Dr. Jemsek's website:

"In virtually all infections, the IgM class of antibody (immunoglobulin) appears first and therefore represents a marker for an early infection. In most immune models, the IgM antibody gives way to the well-known IgG antibody class, usually regarded as the major enduring antibody response in chronic infectious diseases or other immune models. In almost all infection models, after just a few weeks, the IgM antibody level wanes to the point of being non-detectable and does not recur. However, a confounding fact in Bb infections is that the IgM antibody may persist for years, a very unusual situation in most disease states. Logically, one would have to conclude that this reflects an ongoing reactivation or persisting and continually renewing infectious state of Bb infection. Most active diagnostic laboratories involved with LD tend to agree with this notion. Therefore, the Jemsek Specialty Clinic acknowledges that a persistently positive IgM antibody response may qualify as laboratory confirmation for an active LD case.

Lyme disease should be a clinical diagnosis...and testing is only used as a back-up to the diagnosis.
