Hey everyone -

Over the last few years I've been seeing an MD who treats Lyme with venom, herbs, and accupuncture, but no longer does any blood testing or anything, a naturopath who was really helpful at first, addressing the spiritual side of my 18-year struggle for the first time, but is now failing to help with the physical aspects, and an energy healer who blows my mind, but it's not quite enough.

I'd made some really great progress, but things kind of just fell apart. Not worth getting into the whole story.

I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a Lyme-literate integrative or functional medicine doctor, maybe? I'm looking for someone who is knowledgeable about everything I have going on, but isn't going to try to take authority over my health, which has kind of been the problem for the last little while for me. I'm on a tight budget so really all I can afford to do is consult with doctors from time to time, not go through a whole extensive treatment plan - it's been 18 years - that ship has sailed 6 ways to Sunday!

It's just a little frightening, with all I have going on with my health, I don't have anyone to do any medical testing. 90% of my conditions have been diagnosed several years too late, and at the moment I have a primary doctor who won't even do a physical and routine blood work because my insurance only covers it every 5 years!? Insane. I would do anything to just have my liver enzymes tested or perhaps a CD-57 test, just to see what's up. It's been so many years since I've had any testing done for any of the conditions I'm endlessly treating...and it'd be so helpful to have someone I can work with to just do the testing I need, which is about all I need from a practitioner at this point.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions - I haven't been around here much lately but I think I might be more often from here on out - wishing you all lots and lots of healing!

Now with that being said, let me tell you what I did. I have a regular ole doctor. He does not have anything to do with lyme but will give me any and all tests I ask him for. He actually wants me to have tests that relate to my health, like liver and kidneys. He knows I take herbs and will monitor that aspect of me. I do not believe in the reliability of any lyme or co-infection tests and just flat out do not want to waste my money on something that is inaccurate.

And as for the lyme side, I am treating myself with herbs. Bought a bunch of books, extensive use of the knowledge from this forum and also the internet and I am doing it mostly on my own. If I get in a jam, there is a slightly knowledgeable LLMD that is close, but honestly I think there is more knowledge here.

I was scared to do this herbal stuff but I was so encouraged and helped from this community. I am pretty much healed. Just waiting for it to be long enough to say that with confidence.

What part of NJ? I am in central/south and my email is enabled, I can send you info on what I have. Also, there is a support group, a year old here in Shrewbury/Tinton Falls that many people find helpful for local info.
