Anyone get the feeling of their brain swelling? Like its going to pop? I also get like whoosing/ear pressure too! Ive had this head pressure for 8 months, no breaks. Should i ask for an MRI scan? I had one in september at the start of me getting ill but i know lyme can cause things over a longer period of time

What treatment are you on? Mine got better with treatment. The ears was caused from my lymph nodes so I did Red Root and the head pain was alleviated with Japanese Knotweed. I had to start very low in dosage and go up very slowly.

Just a herb protocol peteza. Mainly consists of garlic, chinese skullcap and supplements etc. Probably going back on antibiotics soon. Just not sure what this head pressure is being caused by and whether or not i should have another scan and tests

Get the MRI ASAP. There is a link between lyme and brain cancer.

Yes - I used to get that. Question, does the head pressure get worse with exercise? Worse with bending over? Worse when you cough or strain with bowel movements? Do you ever feel faint or woozy?
There also seems to be a correlation between lyme and stuff with the vascular system...aneurysms...

An MRI didn't show mine, it needs an MRA... which looks specifically at blood vessels.

My brother-in-law raised awareness of this with me when he told me a good friend who had had headaches for years had two aneurysms and lyme.

When i was looking for feedback from others who had had aneurysms, two people on that board told me they had been diagnosed with Lyme.

If any of this matches, do more research, print out the research from reliable sources, tell your GP you want an MRA and an MRI.

Again - the MRI wasn't enough for me.

My GP told me in 2013 an MRI rule out a brain aneurysm - he was wrong.

First off sorry you are suffering! I am not stranger to this. I have chronic encephalitis from bartonella and have seen the ER a couple of times the last few months with morphine :(. I have been down this path. I think some of this is anxiety and anger at lack of general understanding by the medical community and being treated like a leper. I am still frustrated at the process and when you have an infection like bartonella that affects your mood and nerves and I loose my cool a lot. I have a brain infection people!!

Having been to a couple of clinics I think the best way to see how lyme / bartonella affects the brain is with a SPECT scan that shows blood flow in the brain. I have had all the others with no signs. "Some" people show lesions in the white matter.

While I understand @Navigator's point about long term lyme ( or any inflammatory disease ) causes cancer the fact is very few people die from these infections if addressed. If it makes you sleep better at night I understand wanting MRIs / CTs as I did. I heard the cancer talk with me too. It was bogus. Doctors just didn't know what was happening and kept saying worst case scenario.

I should dispel this. If you had a brain aneurysm episode you would most likely be dead. It's not a walk around thing for months. Sorry. A brain aneurysm has a 60% survival rate and if you are lucky to survive you most likely will be severely crippled. You don't "kind of have" an aneurysm. I have experience with a friend that survived and is in a wheel chair and not functional.

I believe this all brings up a good point as why diagnostic tools are so poor now for Lyme and co's and why ILADS says diagnoses should start as "symptomatic" diagnoses. It took me years of symptoms to finally blood test positive.
