How long to clear Bartonella?

I'm just so done with these diseases! Lol. My doctor told me last week, "bartonella takes a long time to clear." What does that mean exactly? I've been on Rifamlin and biaxin for over 2 months now, nearly 3. The bone pain and foot pain is nearly non-existent except when I over do it physically. (Which is easy, even an hour of standing can cause bone pain. But it's better than it used to be.) but nothing is happening. I don't feel any better or any worse really. Just kind of discouraged....Am I on the right path?

Oh gosh, what a debatable subject. No matter what I say, someone else will say different. I think that is because each of us are differentand our healing is different.

And, is there a true and accurate test to tell, if in fact, we do have bartonella???

Galaxy labs is pretty dang good for Bartonella. It is really their specialty. They mention that it takes a minimum of 3-6 months to develop antibodies ( if you do at all ). They do cultures for species too which is more impressive. I am not sure of any other labs that look for all the bartonella species they have identified. What is a bummer is they aren't cheap at all.

I agree - a debatable subject.

I've read more than once that 6 months is minimum.....

I'm sure my journey will be 3 times that long.

From what I have read...it often takes 6 months or more. It's a stubborn, persistent infection.
I have been treating bart for over 7 months now....not done yet. Treating Babesia now...wondering if it is holding me back.
I feel discouraged too.

Violet I've had my core symptoms since Oct 2014, started treatment for Lyme, Babs and Bart in Feb 2015 and switched over to treating Bart directly in mid-Jan so I've been directly treating Bart for 4 months. I can say that I started seeing material relief at about 3 1/2 months (on Rifampin/Doxy).

I fully expect Bart to take 8-12 months to fully resolve IF the Lyme/Babs doesn't rear its ugly head and cause delays. That's the challenge with multiple infections any one can block full healing of the others and only after trying many different options do you know specifically for you what the sequence of treatment should be. For me I treated Babesia primarily for almost a year and I'm pretty sure I still have it which means the Bart was blocking full recovery.

The whole thing sucks lol.

I think that is why I like the herbal protocol so much. You can treat babs, bart and lyme all at the same time.

Thanks. I guess 6 months at least seems to be the consensus. I wouldn't mind it if I was six months, but there's never a garuntee it won't be longer and having Babs makes it more complicated. I'm taking artemisin and cryptolepis and boneset, but not much is happening, or that I can tell anyway. I'm just worried the Babesia is going to hold me back from getting rid of anything else. :(

I hope you don't mind me hi-jacking!! I am pretty sure I have Bart too. As well as the brain and nerve function being askew, I am unable to walk normally. I am ataxic, weak with pain in my joints.

I am wondering if I ever am healed completely of Bart will I know because these symptoms will be gone?

I keep hearing different stances. Some say Bart is brain and others say babs is brain. My muscle testing came back strong for Bart and babs but Lyme not so much.

That is the question...when to know if it's active infection...or just some damage leftover that needs healing.
I'm playing it safe and continuing to treat...maybe if I have a little joint stiffness ...or a few aches...I will consider that I'm done...and just need to heal. But, will be keeping a close eye on it...that's for sure. I certainly won't stop if I have several 'symptoms' leftover.
Before stopping my antibiotic treatment, I will do a weaning schedule - maybe treat for one week a month...for several months...then for three days a month...before stopping completely.

Hmmm...I think if you are in the chronic stages like I am, it will take a Lo-o-o-o-o-ng time. I have been on ABAB and ABART for over two years NOW and those are still not gone - can't for the life of me shake 'em off! Before the two herbals I mentioned, I also did Andrographis for what seemed like FOREVER and Jap. Knotweed, still do the black walnut. cloves, etc but that did not / has not done the trick either for me. Maybe I am a special case?.....Hmmmmm......

needhelp4 - have you thought about trying Buhner's Babs and Bart protocols? Maybe switching it up might help?

You're not the only one that I have read it's taking over two years.

Take that as good news no lyme! One less infection to deal with. I am the same. Bartonella has been more persistent with me. It is not out of the ordinary to have 12-18 months of treatment for it. Don't let that get you down. Having done a lot of therapy the beginning ends up being the hardest for sure. One day at a time.
