I don't think any test can tell you how long you've had the infection. And you will always test positive after having the infection.
I started doing yoga and I make fruit smoothies in the morning. I took Chronic Tonic and Andrographis for a couple weeks after treatment because the pain led me to believe I was still infected. But I never herxed and did't feel any different on them so I stopped.
This was supposed to be a POSITIVE post and so far I've been called shortsighted, a spy, and told that bacteria will probably wreak havoc on me in a year. Thanks guys!
Well, first, you started off characterizing the promotion of solutions for mostly inadequate treatment as "doom and gloom". So, that wasn't helpful.
But you DID clarify that you were talking about
"some" people. And you might be right - for some people (probably only those who catch it immediately after infection) 21 days of doxy might work.
But there is plenty of evidence that suggests that these truncated courses of abx don't eliminate enough of the microbes to clear symptoms. The question is, what is the point in which there is illness from the microbe? And at what point is your immune function in control and you're no longer sick?
The trouble with "this works" or "that doesn't" is that, as you said, there is no way to know if the infection is actually cleared. And contrary to what you posted, I don't think there is a "cure" for lyme infection--it's always in your body. You either dominate it, or you don't. In order to dominate it, you need your immune system in control and that usually means bringing the load of infection down to a manageable level for your immune system to take over. That can be complicated for some people and they need continued antimicrobial support.
Also, part of healing from lyme is to heal from the impact of lyme and the inflammation and other havoc. This might not need antimicrobial support.
A third component is targeting confections. Unless you caught lyme from another person or from contaminated blood, it's very likely you also have other pathogens to take care of.
So, this is why "21 days of doxy might be enough" is a pretty limiting statement and why suggesting as much to THIS group of people, comprised of mainly chronic people struggling with much, much more than "21 days of doxy" is going to solve...
But I think we're all happy that you have a success story!
