I called a different LLMD to make an appt for a second opinion (this one has been personally recommended) and, while explaining some of my medical hx, the office manager said that I shouldn't even be on Ceftin, I should be on Doxy.
Can anyone explain the difference and why? I tried to look in Burr***'s guidelines (can't remember his name) but I'm still not sure why or when one is better than the other.

I don't know why the Manager said that. Ceftin is a good antibiotic for treating lyme.

It is listed.

maybe she thought you had recently been infected (8/16 diagnostic)? then yes Doxy would be the first abx typically, but that is if you were just infected, not just diagnosed.

I was given Ceftin because I said I did not want Doxy because I was in the sun so much.

Everyone is different. There is no universal rule. It depends in great part how well you tolerate and respond to a med. Ceftin is a great med, but that does not mean it is right for everyone.
Ceftin is a Cephalosporin, which is used for Lyme-oftentimes Neuro Lyme. Doxy is also a good med for Lyme. It is often paired with other meds for co-infections, such as Bartonella.
It is also good to keep in mind that the office manager is most likely not a doctor. Who knows how much knowledge he or she has regarding Lyme.
