GH,
I'm sorry that happened. I don't think it's from the protein. It may be but it sounds like it is either not enough water, or more likely, the meat was marinated in heavy poor quality salt, like most fair foods. Which meant you probably should have had even more water. Sounds like we had opposite days. I eat very little meat and haven't had any red meat since lyme. Last night I had two small lamb chops and felt the best I have felt in a long time. Energy really heightened.
Again, not trying to tell you how you felt but I have been to a lot of fairs in my day! Either way, hope you are feeling much better NOW. At least you got out - that's great.
I see what you are saying, but I'm saying the protein isn't the issue, it's the acid. The protein requires water to be eliminated and when you combine increased water demand with increased, decreased water availability due to increased sodium, and lowered buffering ability, I get increased ammonia. I feel that the bacteria in my GI tract can't handle acid as well as they did before Lyme. Nothing is as simple or as difficult as it seems, but something like this could explain why brain fog occurs.
