So just a question I have heard that it is not uncommon for symptoms to be mainly on one side as this was one of the things I had questioned. I have had huge issues with muscle wasting and pain in right leg, hip, jaw, and arm. How many of you out there have dealt with pain and/or weakness mainly on one side? It is just a curiosity thing for me at this point.
Also an update and question about
the hip issues that I have had. As I have been still struggling with the right hip for so long I asked my LLMD about
the pain. It has been such a weird pain. It shows up almost like clockwork every two weeks. It started back last Aug before I found out that I had Lyme's and continued at that point about
every three weeks it would flare to the point that I could hardly stand on it. After being diagnosed with Lyme's and started on Abx it went away for almost three months it has returned as of about
3 months ago but this time it is every two weeks and it has now started swelling as well when it gets painful. He suggested I followup with ortho to verify no actual structural damage and I just had an MRI today to look at the joint but what do you think is causing the change from three weeks to two weeks? Do you think it is a different co-infection this time? I still am convinced that it is an infection causing it because it is so cyclical in nature and with the swelling also comes some swollen lymph nodes but any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Nick-this may be a long shot but do you have dental stuff on right side and not left?

I used to worry when I first joined this community because I had serious issues with both sides of my body, and almost no one else did. I finally convinced myself it was because I had been infected for several decades, only to see new members start posting that they also had symptoms on both sides of their body as well.
Now that I've been here for so long, and have been on other sites posting, I have seen that it's like all symptoms - some have it and some don't. Some have mainly left sided issues, some right side only and some, like me, have it with both sides.
about
your hip, first I'm so sorry to hear this! My right hip is my worst place right now. Is it possible that it's due to weather changes? I know my issues with my hip react to drastic temperature changes, barometric changes, a high or low pressure system moving in. It never truly goes away, but those things certainly make it a lot worse.
It could be "just" these infections, or it could be Lyme arthritis specifically, or it could be osteoarthritis. I'm glad your doc had you get the MRI to check on it.
Please let us know what the results are!

I experience symptoms on both side but the left side is harder hit. My left side is a bit smaller than my right side (not visible by the casual eye but I can tell when comparing the two). My left arm and hand look less "full" than my right arm and hand. Now this could be explained by the fact my right arm and hand is the dominate arm and hand, however it's the same for my legs and there's no "dominate" leg, you walk with both. My left knee pops, clicks and cracks much more than my right, indicating cartilage and collagen destruction from the lyme being more severe on the left.
The left side is also where I experienced facial paralysis and tingling when I first got lyme.
So yes, it seems to be common among lymies for one side to be more affected than the other.
