Orange Stool - Need Insight

I apologize in advance if this is TMI, but my LLMD is out the rest of the week. The past few days I've had some chest pain and shortness of breath. Went to urgent care yesterday and got EKG and chest X Ray...everything normal. I'm guessing it's a bartonella herx.

Today still have those symptoms but now I have orange stool. I know that I have heard that Bactrim DS can cause orange urine (haven't had that so far), but can it possibly cause orange stool? I haven't eaten anything orange the past couple of days, so I can't figure this out. If anyone has insight I would soooo appreciate it. I also noticed that since I've started the Bactrim I'm having a harder time going to the bathroom, which is odd...I thought antibiotics would have the opposite effect. I'm at a loss. Help!!!

Thank you! I'll check out the links. I'm taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin, and Bactrim DS. I didn't have the stool issues until I added the Bactrim. Just added hemp powder and flax seed powder to my morning smoothie and that is helping with the consistency. I also doubled up on probiotics. I think the Bactrim is doing something though b/c I have my first bartonella herx (which is both awful and encouraging at the same time). Maybe the orange color is a fluke. I talked to doc about the chest pain and gave him an update from urgent care, but the stool thing is new so I'll have to wait to update him when he is back in on Monday. Maybe I'll get lucky and it will go away by then! :)

And maybe it has to do with combining those 3 specific drugs???

Resurrecting this old thread as I have recurring bouts of orange poop. I'm having one now.

I am not on any abx, so mine is not drug related. Occasionally, I have sections of orange poop or see partially undigested curcumin capsules. Other times, like now, the entire stool is orange for a few days.

I worry about my liver (and kidneys, as I get bouts of kidney pain too).

Does anyone else have this? Has anyone with elevated liver enzymes or liver failure had this? Has anyone's Lyme doctor been concerned about their orange poop?

The only time I had it was when I was on Rifampin - it's known to change color of both urine and stool.
Funny though the Rifabutin isn't doing that.

I have had raised liver enzymes and it didn't change the color. (liver enzymes were raised for a few months)

I currently have had a few kidney function issues...it also didn't make my stool orange.

You don't think it's the supplements : ie curcumin?

When I see partially undigested capsules, yes. Not when it's solid orange like it's been for several days. I think this is liver related. It happens in recurring episodes every now and then.

What about beta carotene - taking a lot of that? (ie supplements or food)
