My son says it feels like something is biting him inside his head :(

My son is on Mepron/Zithro and just began Mino.

He told me it feels like something is biting him inside his head (back of crown, inside head)

Anyone else experience this sensation? Is it medicine related? A neuro herx?

I did a quick search and also didn't see this as one of the mino herx complaints.
Is there a way to lower the dosage more?

Traveler had made a suggestion that it could be causing an ammonia build up, and recommended further detoxing, though I didn't see what specifically was good for that.

I would consider lowering the dosage a bit since you are just starting him on it. His tolerance for new herbs is probably low. It won't be too long and his body will adjust to it, but in the meantime, consider my suggestions.

Both K and I have had this symptom which to me feels like an electric jolt in a very small area of the skull. For me it was above and just behind my left ear.

In my opinion it is an inflammation of the bone in that area. Bartonella has an affinity for bone marrow and can cause bone pain, especially in the long bones (fore arm, shins), and I would imagine in the skull bones as well. K complained of this as a "pick-like headache" which would last for only 1 second at a time but which would effects her many, many times a day.

Herx reactions can cause severe inflammation.

It's hard for him to describe/articulate properly. Whatever it is doesn't last long. He will all of a sudden look a little frightened and then say "Uh Mom, something weird is happening..."

He has only take one dose of the Mino (100 mg.) I am keeping at one a day until he adjusts.

Once it's over he doesn't seem bothered. He has also been extra dramatic, sad, a little negative. But getting mature enough to say "I have a feeling it's the medicine." So that's good.

I do have Pinella/Dandelion/Parsley. Getting him to take it is another story.

Ah, these weird neuro feelings are the worst. I feel this kind of stuff a lot. The shock I've felt once and it spooked me. Burning swirling buzzing. Ugh.

Definitely detox. Pinella, Burbur. Sometimes Alka seltzer Gold helps me a lot.

No when he said biting he was correct. It is a biting sensation. I had it too.
Any time someone talks about biting, consider morgellons.
That is the thing about morgellons. Not everyone has all or even some of the symptoms you can get. The sooner you treat it early the easier it will be on you.
I bet he will get rid of that sensation soon on treatment.

The book refers to stinging, biting, and crawling sensations. Make sure he gets ivermectin and see if it stops.

I just found something interesting about this in the new book. It says,
"Due to the inflammatory nature of lyme disease, lyme patients who do not have morgellons disease often have feelings of crawling, biting and stinging as well. But in the case of lyme disease, these sensations are solely neuropathic in nature and there are no lesions or filaments. That which MD patients experience is far worse, because they actually have clear evidence of filaments working their way through the skin."

So i guess lesions are either the sores that are slow to heal (70% do not have these) or tiny papercuts that might show up very infrequently. In my case for a short time i had for example, a tiny cut every month, but easy not to notice. The main thing is the 60x microscope to see the filaments. It always comes back to the need to use the mini microscope. i suppose some people that are advanced have the filaments where you can visually see them without the microscope. But i never noticed. And the author says you have to check with the mini microscope 60x.

i thought there was no biting for lyme. i thought it related only to morgellons. but i am wrong. anyway i updated it.

The morgellons book talks about the filaments and also inflammation of peripheral sensory nerves being related to the sensations. The filaments are not parasites.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to research and look this up for my son. I will ask LLMD on Tuesday about the Morgellans. And yet something new I have to learn about. He once said he feels like things were crawling inside his back (this was before the diagnosis and when I knew 100% he was positive) -he has also said it feels like his skin burns. My poor kid.

Lyme is so different. I don't have any of those symptoms. Lately I just can't stop crying. I feel unhinged :(

I have that feeling - and it sucks. I can get just one large one or many small, very intense ones - they all can stop me in my tracks. I've never had the symptoms of Morgellon's so I know this can be caused by these infections.

It's painful, but only lasts for a short time. I'm convinced for me that it's Neurological/toxins. I also have brain pressure (also hard to explain) and have started taking kudzu root which is helping both for now at least. We'll see how well I hold up under some real stress though in just another couple of days! LOL!

Hang in there, Huddie - seeing our kids hurting is one of the hardest things I've had to endure.

I also think it's neuro toxins. Started like clockwork. They don't seem to be painful - mostly scary to him and high on the ick factor.

Thanks. Yes, sounds like what you describe.

The good news is he seems to understand it's from the medicine.

He's honestly more worried about acting weird in class. He sort of makes a noise when they happen. It's not involuntary, it's sort of loud 'Uhh' surprise/startle type noise.

Sweet story - if your going to do something seemingly odd, bible study is a great place.

I got my first period in bible school class. I hate the color red and I happen to put on red pants that morning (my mom made them for me and I had to show her that I like them). Well the moment I got back from the restroom, I closed my eyes and said "Thanks God!" As if God planned it the day I had red pants on. LOL.
