..First sample was rejected due to it taking longer than 3 days to ship (stupid usps). So just sent another sample ups second day air.....
What is the limit on the amount of time the urine sample must arrive at the lab?
This following is a response on my inquiry about
accuracy of the test:
"Our test is quite accurate. We use PCR which is a very sensitive technique. We know the entire DNA sequences of these organisms, so we target specific genes that we know are unique to each one. We check this against a database of sequences frequently to make sure that we are detecting what we think we are detecting. Plus PCR can detect as few as one organism, so our test is specific and sensitive.
We are limited in detecting whatever is in the sample. If our test comes up negative, that means that there were no results found in that sample at this time. Sometimes that can be a sampling issue, since we can’t test 100% of your body. However, our negative rate in the thousands of tests we have done is about
6%, which is quite low. Again, this is because PCR is sensitive and specific. We do not quantify the results; we only report a presence/absence of the organisms we test for."
