Help! Found out i have lyme+babeosis within 2 days of also finding out Im expecting!
I cannot find a lyme doctor in calgary who knows what to DO with me.
Ive been pointed to Richmond, BC - but who has the time or money to travel to bc, with children already?!?
There HAS to be someone!
(Did i mention lupus is also an issue?) Fml

Hi TickedOff - welcome to our community!

I'm a BC'er with lyme and am treated by the LLND in Richmond.

If you're wanting to go non-Pharma route - there is a LLND in Calgary. But ND's in Alberta aren't licensed to prescribe antibiotics.

If you're wanting to go the abx route, then you need to go to BC or cross the border to the U.S.

The LLND in Richmond - you could fly there once...and then do follow-ups via skype or phone. His follow-ups are quite reasonably priced compared to LLMD's in the U.S. I think they have to follow a fee schedule.
BC ND's can prescribe antibiotics.

Did you test positive with the standard CDC test...or did you go through Igenex?

I have seen two LLNDS here and know if atleast one other, I also know of two private doctors, one of which I am seeing and know of one other doctor over at SHC

Are patients able to get abx?

Yes, there are a couple that are prescribing abx, but still hard to get. One ND is able to get them once a month, I think she gets a doctor to come in. Another is through a private clinic that charges insane prices, with an MD. The other is a GP, but very long wait list, like 1-2 years!

Yikes 1-2 year waitlist...well one thing's for sure...we know Lyme disease is thriving in Alberta.

It's disgusting that people are left scrambling to find care....

So much for Elizabeth May pushing through the bill - to get a panel of people to look into better testing, diagnosing and treatment of lyme patients in Canada. That must be over 2 years ago now.

Yes, it is very upsetting!!

I've only been experiencing all of this for 6 months now, I mean I suspect that I've had it for years, but just found out.

I can't imagine what it was like to try and get help years ago... I feel like the Hadid's have put a spotlight on all of this and are getting a lot of awareness... Although I do find Yolanda a little annoying hahaha.
