Son's hands are bright red, painful and stinging -ANYONE?

It could be from Bart or Lyme. Bart causes inflammation on the inside of the veins, and Lyme causes increased fibrin (causing 'thick' blood) and both can cause circulation issues.

Have him warm his hands - rubbing them together, soaking them in warm water, use a heating pad (but be careful to not burn the skin!).

If this continues, talk to his LLMD. He may need to be on something to thin his blood or to reduce the inflammation on the inside of his veins.

Huddie, I wouldn't have him rub his hands, it might over-stimulate the nerve endings and create more burning.

Try warm water and see how it feels to him, but last year when this was going on with my left foot, I had to hold an ice pack on it to get any relief. Let him try both and see which feels better. Since it is both hands, you might try submersing them in the water warm or with ice cubes in cool water.

ETA, I used to rub my foot first, and it would feel really good at first, and then burn like the dickens.

I had exactly that. I have lyme and every coinfection. If i recall, that symptom went away with methylcobalamin and methylfolate for my compound heterozygous MTHFR mutation. Also vitamin D3, coconut oil, neutrogena may be helpful.

Most helpful though has been lyme literate naturopath!

Thank you. At first I put Cerave ointment on him but that is when it got worse -probably the rubbing together as you mentioned. I then gave him a cool soak and that helped a bit.

Great idea on Benadryl but just reading this now. He finally slept so we will see what today brings.

Thank you for the support. It's ok. Comes with the Lyme territory. I know him and he would rather have burning hands than the scary panic herxes -so we'll take it.

I was herxing in the night and something new is cycling I believe. OR I just did way too much Friday taking the tree down and undecking the halls. 2017 is the year to get these bugs under control!

Hands seem better this morning but all our moods are foul and I just sent him to his room for back talk. I'm sure it's lyme/meds but I don't care. Inexcusable.

His hands felt like they were burnt. I could feel heat coming from them. They were bright red too - like he had gloves over them.

I would be shocked if it wasn't EM. Nothing seems rare with Lyme.

I'll update you guys on what the LLMD says.

Trav, It definitely sounds like Lyme related rashes.

I made a salve with coconut oil, a drop of lavender, geranium, tea tree oil. That seemed to help a lot.

I herxed on Alinia and had to stop after 20 days, but I am back on it and all my herbals and feeling really good!

I seem to have reversed some muscle wasting...just great changes!
