Good question. I have posted many times on this forum about my belief that a low animal protein diet is more beneficial and a search will show a lot of what I have said. A low animal protein diet certainly helps me much more than anything as long as I'm getting adequate folate from green leafy veggies. We, however, are all not the same in that we all don't just have Lyme. All of the people on this forum have to fight multiple pathogens and must weigh the benefit vs. risks of what they eat. On one hand, eating animal protein helps promote gram negative anaerobes and they have been shown to be pathogenic in individuals like Lyme patients. They increase ammonia production and absorption tremendously and that is why many people get brain fog. So animal protein is bad. But some people show benefits from eating animal protein so I can't say that everyone doesn't need to eat it. The same can be said about carbs and fats. It just depends on what is going wrong biochemically in your body. Most patients that have had Lyme for some time have already down regulated their immune response which means they have mutations or issues with VDR, SOD, MTRR, MTHFR, COMT, the dreaded CBS or other genes in the methylation pathway. This is the body's attempt to decrease the free radical formation that is causing so many problems.

Start a food log and write down everything that you eat every day. Also write your symptoms and problems in the log when you have them. When you have a problem, go back 3 days and see what may be increasing your issues. A restrictive diet can be beneficial in this method and reintroducing a new food often can show benefits or problems. Just because a food causes a problem doesn't mean it is not good for you, it may mean you are deficient in the ingredients of the food and eating it increases your immune response. Our body will often tell us what it wants and broken down even further, the bacteria and pathogens in our body will tell us what they want. If they don't get what they want, they start dying and when they die and we don't detox, we suffer.

IMO, Lyme Disease changes our GI flora and the new flora is what causes us problems. We can't kill the borrelia because we are battling all the unwanted candida, Bilophila, Prevotella, and all the other unwanted pathogens. Borrelia is hard enough to eradicate by itself and the increase of these other bacteria/yeasts makes it doubly difficult. Add in the nutritional deficiencies that occur because of Lyme and it's hard to heal. Correcting these deficiencies is crucial to getting better.

Hi georgia ...once you mentioned protozal infection building biofilm in throat ? Is there any med herbs to use against toxo/ proto without sulfa ?..do you believe rife is effective from a scientic standpoint .re anthony holland ? Tnt stated that venom is effective against apicomplexans ..are thos the same as toxo etc etc.. Thanks you are amazing

Also another question......why I feel better with lyme symptoms when my calories intake is minimal when I focus my nutrition only probiotics shakes and leafy greens keeping everything with a certain caloric restriction.

The reason eating causes you problems is that the nutrients that you are ingesting are increasing the metabolism of the pathogens/bacteria in your GI tract. They are using what you eat as their fuel source just as we use food for ours.

Or, because you have so many viruses, your arginine levels are low. It becomes low because the viruses utilize it for replication and when you eat foods with arginine, it allows the viruses to replicate much easier.

Correct. I've tried the Trojan Horse effect on proto with mixed results. Just about anything with a polyphenolic chemical structure will decrease proto replication. Nothing has been curative but I can knock it back to live a somewhat normal life.

On a side note, bioflavinoids have a polyphenolic structure. BH4, which is vital for not only neurotransmitter production but also for the entire methylation pathway, is a pterin which is a polyphenol. Colored fruits and vegetables are a great source for pterin moieties and have great antioxidant properties.

I have one question about the thing I read and that upset me a lot. Is it possible that someone has positive Western blot (only one band) caused by EBV and not Borelia? Is it possible to have EBV and not Lyme that can give same symptoms?

I am also interested on blueberry muffin question Georgia....
I also had a EBV showing in test but is dormant. The other one was 2 band Western Blot lyme and eliza.

I have never really gotten into the testing very much because to me, it doesn't really matter. If the tests were more accurate, they would mean more. The Western Blot uses the size of the protein and other infectious agents could certainly have a protein of the same size.

What would change in your treatment if you assumed that you had both EBV and Borrelia?

Thank you for the research that you are so diligent in and so willing to share with us!

I am wondering if you have any information on the "light box therapy" used to treat SAD in the winter? And do you know if the lack of sunshine has any affect on lyme? I am so much worse in the winter as I know are many of us. If there is science behind the therapy I thought it might help me and others with energy levels.

What say you?

Does any body remember the post where gh said there was dna of helminith and protozoan origin in the sequence of borrelia ..links to proof of this genitic tampering?!?
