I'm new here! Looking for LLMD in Canada (near Toronto)

Hi!

Wow, I feel a little relief in my anxiety levels after finding this forum. Thank you for having me!

I was hoping one of you would know of an LLMD in Canada, somewhere close to Toronto. I have an LLND but I have to fly to Vancouver, BC to see him (which only happened once due to $$) but we have phone consults and he send scripts. However, I think I'm falling between the cracks a bit. I've heard of a few LLMDs in Canada but they all seem to be having their prescribing rights taken away because of it.

I was doing well on antibiotics. He took me off abx in Oct/2016 and I really started to degrade mid-December. All my original symptoms returned.

Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated!!

You can email the Tick-Borne Disease Alliance at medicalinfo@tbdalliance.org for LLMD referrals and you can go to tbdalliance.org to learn more about these infections.

You can go to The Lyme Disease Association and search for LLMD's 3 times in a month. You have to register first. Here is the link:

For information on finding an ILADS (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society) trained Lyme Literate Medical Doctor(LLMD) in your area, you will need to enable your email option in your profile in order to receive any recommendations, as we don't allow doctor's names and contact info to be posted on the forum for several reasons. You can enable your email option in your profile, under 'edit profile'. Be sure to click the submit button to actually save your preference.

Welcome to the forum! It's a great community packed with good info.

How long have you been sick? It sounds like you were treating as well, was this a typical 1 month supply of doxy? Or did they give you multiple rounds of multiple antibiotics?

If we have something in Detroit or Wayne county In Michigan, would that possibly work for you? I don't have Michigan on my lists, but later this evening Girlie will be on, who has a more complete LLMD list.

Girlie also lives in Canada, but she's on the west coast.

Hi Sar - I am in BC - there aren't any practicing LLMD's in Canada that I am aware of.

Could you give me the initials of which LLND you are seeing?

It's not Dr. C is it?

What was his reason for stopping treatment?

Hi guys!! Thank you taking the time to reply!

My symptoms began Jan/2015, Igenex +ve May/2015, began treatment w Dr C Oct 2015. I've been on about 5 different combinations of abx since. Was doing well in Oct/2016. He's great, just wondering if there were other options closer to home. Feeling really rough! Any of you know if intracranial pressure Is normal with Lyme?

I was taken off abx because I was doing well and ND wanted to see if I could continue on just bar1/bar2 but we had trouble ordering them into Canada. Then symptoms returned full-force. I'm back on abx now with some herbs and supplements but I'm not feeling any better.

Oh, okay - I was worried he had cut you off...and was wondering if he'd be doing the same to me!!

I was already scrambling for options...just in case.

That is my biggest fear...that I may get cut off at some point...

I have pressure in my head...but no testing done...are you going by symptoms- re: intracranial pressure?
Yes, it's a symptom...not sure how often it occurs, though.

Did you treat just bart and lyme...or babesia?
I know the ND's aren't able to prescribe malarone/mepron...maybe none of the anti-malarials?

Were you on Rifampin for bart?

So, you don't like doing the telephone appointments? I find it's not good as in-person...I don't think he really 'knows' me...it would be better I feel in person.
