I have been trying to disprove that information for 2 years on facebook.
My property has been plagued with possums. It is also plagued with ticks. Millions of them. They used to make themselves right at home on my kitchen porch with the cats, (the possums that is), eating their food (instead of ticks), and sleeping with them. I would haul those things off to another
location every time I could get brave enough to get a hold on one.
My friend here in the two previous months was able to catch 3 of them, not quite full grown, in my basement which is
open to my enclosed front porch. And yes I house 2 cats out there. I no longer let cats outside.
Frankly I'd have more faith in the armadillos eating ticks, than these scrounging possums. If they are eating them when they take the time to be outside, they aren't eating enough of them.
They are causing me property damage by digging into crawlspace underpinning to access my basement, walking along my ductwork and destroying insulation and the material that was holding it up to the basement ceiling/my floor. I've probably only removed maybe 10 in the 23 years I've been here leaving more than enough to eat ticks.
