Japanese Knotweed is Hawaii Pharm ok???

Hey Everyone,
I bought my Japanese Knotweed off Dragon botanicals in pill form but after getting great advice here I probably should have gotten it in tincture form. Anyone have an opinion on Hawaii Pharm ??? It's a brand sold on Amazon???

I know there are members who have used Hawaii Pharm.


I purchased Woodland Essence and Sage Woman Herbs.


I wanted to stick with the ones on Buhner's recommended list ...but not everyone does.

Hawaii Pharm maybe more reasonably priced.

I've used Hawaii Pharm before though not one of my preferred brands. They actually shipped me an expired bottle once. If you are shopping on Amazon, Montana Farmacy is another good brand and Buhner has recommended them as well for some herbs. You can also buy directly from the Montana Farmacy website too.

not tier 1 i'd go with woodland essence or sagewoman they are consistent in their quality.

I get mine through amazon and buy Hu Zhang (chinese name) from Hawaii Pharm. I have also bought directly from Hawaii Pharm. I love this company. They are super great at customer service.

Sage Woman herbs is 1:2 ratio. They are super knowledgeable and great customer service.

Montana Farmacy does not list the ratio and every time I have called them I get to leave a message and they will call me back.

Hawaii Pharm ratio is 1:3 ratio and that is a stronger herb. So, to me it is a better deal because you don't have to take as much.

But, as you can tell, I tried them all and for me I found what I liked. I hope you find what works for you.

Isn't 1:3 - one part herbs and 3 parts solvent?

"We make extracts from DRIED material with a ratio of 1:3. We use 1 part of herbs with 3 parts of solvent to produce the super concentrated extracts!"

So 1:3 is weaker than the 1:2

My bottle of Sage Japenese Knotweed is 1:5 - herb to alcohol ratio.

So based on this you still cannot assume strength based on the ratios.

It concludes to say:

In summary, it is nearly impossible to tell how strong an extract will be until you try it yourself. "Standardized" extracts, in which a company tells you the concentration of active constituents (most companies will only test their product once despite seasonal crop variations), are not necessarily stronger than a normal extract. The best advice we can offer is to find a brand you like and stick with it.

Yu Xing Cao is the chinese name for Houttuynia and it is 1:3 by Hawaii Pharm

I think the part I love about Hawaii Pharm is they are organic. Their alcohol is organic, their plant material is wild harvested and organic. Vegetable palm glycerin and crystal clear artesian purified water!

I went to Hawaii Pharm for all of my tinctures.

But, as I said.... this is an individual choice and this company did not exist when Buhner wrote his book, so they are not listed in his book.

All you can do is try this company and see if you like it. No pressure.

The tinctures I've bought from Montana Farm are all 1:5, per the label.
