Anyone benefit from low dose naltrexone?

Just curious to hear from you all.... My doctor wants to me to take it, but I've read that it mostly helps with pain. Fortunately, I do not have a ton of pain. She also says it helps with immune function. I've heard mixed things and I don't want to take yet another pill if it isn't going to do much for me. Let me know your experiences with it. Thanks everyone!

It does also help with your immune response.

Try entering "naltrexone - Lyme" into the top search function, there are some great responses.

Many did this in the past, they are now gone from here, good sign? Some liked it some said no difference.

I studied it and decided not to since it will interfere with my thyroid med dose (common). Thyroid is a hassle, dont need more. And no regular Drs will do this- cant afford more non ins Dr bills.

I didn't know I had lyme...when I was trying it. I had a ton of unexplainable symptoms including pain.

Before I took it, I would have pain during the day...but sleep quite well and not feel any pain through the night.

Then I tried it...and that's when the pain during the night started.

It may have been because the LDN didn't allow me to sleep as well...it can do that.

Many people do have good results with it, though. Just make sure you start low - 1.5 mg and go slowly up.

I'm one who I believe it helped. In the beginning it did cause some insomnia but adjusting the time taken helped.

I've been on it for 7 months. My pain is minimal. My biggest symptoms are fatigue and horrible brain fog and brain buzz.

Here's why I think it is helping. My cd57nk count increased from 28 to 128 in a relatively short time. That's a pretty good number, even if it doesn't mean much by some opinions, it does show a substantial strengthing of my immune system.

Once I increased the dose, you take one pill a day for the first week or two and then go to two pills or something like that, I got really bad headaches from it and discontinued. I've heard the same from others. It either works with your brain chemistry or it doesn't. At least that's my take.

I'm up to 6mg. At first I got a bit of die off but now it doesn't seem to do anything. I've been on it since July.

It was one of the worst experiences of my life. Diethylcarbamazine is suspected to help raise the immune system. I will stick with this.

There's a Facebook group, Low-dose Naltrexone (LDN) for Fibromyalgia and (CFS) Fatigue. Some of the members and at least one admin have Lyme disease. If you're really interested in LDN, I think the group is a good resource.

I've just started on LDN myself. I had my doctor prescribe the full-dose (50 mg) pills which I use to make LDN in liquid form. The benefit of doing it this way is being able to adjust your dosage on the fly. Also, it's incredibly cheap: $10 a year (my copay) versus the $480 I would've paid having it compounded.
