Although, that's not the only way that LLMD's get suspended, this is a good reminder as to why we don't do that:

Yes, we still have LLMD's that are being sanctioned and brought before the state medical boards for following something other than IDSA treatment guidelines for these infections. This won't stop until the CDC changes it's stance on supporting the IDSA treatment guidelines - which were removed from the National Guidelines Clearinghouse years ago.

My doctors are being watched. I don't entirely understand but there is some mechanism that started in 2017 that makes this easier. It could from be tests ordered or meds prescribed etc.

This has happened in my region, it happens.

A well know pediactric lyme Dr had his license revoked and was maybe looking at jail time I think. Hope he got out of it. yes you read that correctly.

So please no names.

Its also wise NOT to mention "lyme" when any non-LLMD your seeing asks "who is this Dr?" - It will show up and they will ask, nothing is secret and all is shared electronically, they will see your Rx scripts too.

If they push it just say you might have had an infect or hes a nutriional expert, then they will drop the subject. Dont openly tell other Drs who you dont know that you are seeing an "LLMD".

Some of your non lyme believing Drs might call the "Dr police" on your LLMD!

One in my area is being investigated again. He is asking for letters from his patients and stuff saying that he has helped them.

I dont quite understand why we cant say anything or have to be so hush hush about it, when (in my case) my LLMD's website clearly states right on it what she does. If she advertises it.. then she is putting it out there?

Each medical practitioner is licensed by the State that they practice in.

This sort of surveillance may be on States where the Practitioners are protected, as they are in the State of California. There is more leniency there.

That being said, with this being a public board, and with 150,000+ members, there is no doubt we are watched.

And while a doctor may choose to put on their site that they treat Lyme, please do not mention their names on public places - which includes Lyme forums and Facebook. That will only serve to draw even more attention (and often times unwanted attention) to the fact that they do treat Lyme.

If we don't, what will happen is very easy to see - we will have NO doctors to help us. This is far from what we need, so we must take it upon ourselves to help protect them all. If you can't share their names in private, then please don't. I've had to help a few people suddenly find a new LLMD because their's was being investigated or worse yet, had sanctions placed on them so that they had a massive fine and some have to have an ID duck oversee every single prescription they wrote - so you know that means that those still seeing that LLMD were suddenly not getting the treatments they needed. There's simply nothing a doctor can do for a Lyme patient once that happens.

This is a shame. The MD's who have large well-developed websites, or a book, or well-cited papers, or who are already world-renowned, what about those? I've mentioned them if only to get verification on what treatments work.

I think we should post names for crap doctors although that list would be extensive as it would include most of them.

I've had recent dealings with a tropical diseases doctor and someone that according to her colleague was an 'expert' in lyme disease. The reality is she is killing people every day by giving them a false negative diagnosis but I don't necessarily have an issue with her, it was just that she had self-image (ego) issues as well as being misinformed so it was doubly as bad.

For anyone interested the hospital was NHS (in the UK) UCLH Hospital, Tropical Diseases Clinic, London - the worst doctor I've ever been in contact with, a total nightmare. Will not mention the consultants names out of respect for forum rules. I since found out she conspired against me when I wanted clear answers about what guidelines the NHS use for Lyme and why she had a problem with ArminLabs. She basically shut down all/any conversation, refused to answer any of it and to this day I'm still none the wiser. To the NHS I am Lyme negative. To Arminlabs I am positive.

Of course I don't care about being discharged as they would have no treatment anyway because it all falls under the old Lyme thinking umbrella. I have since wanted to go after this woman consultant because it really bothers me to know how many people are being told utter nonsense by her - and those potentially losing their lives through suicide or the continuation of their suffering. I think people like her and others like her have a duty of care, and that involves questioning what they are told is evidence based fact. They have a duty of care. As a result of the systematic failure I've lost total respect for all mainstream MDs and think they deserve no respect whatsoever. The good ones get out and start their own practices, you have to be morally and ethically bankrupt to keep plugging away in a falty and corrupt system knowing you are harming people every day. It can only mean a) you don't care about who you hurt or b) you only care about the money. In the NHS it is also bad because the NHS is publically funded, hence we (through taxes) have bought and paid for these people to treat us in this despicable way.

Dreadful to hear that's happened to you but it's comfort in a sense for me to see other people having gone through it because it's self-validation that I'm not mad. I'm not especially happy on the outskirts and completely abandoning the NHS is a bit of a journey and one I felt I needed my family to see me go through, which is why I often have my old mum accompany me to doctor's visits, so she can see first hand what I have to deal with. I've found it's brought us closer and I hope that's the case for you and some of your family, if not all. Some of my family have been a little estranged and not known how to cope with me wanting to withdraw from social activities sometimes at key times. My cousin's wife is very demanding of visitors time and likes to be in full control of visitors as she is her whole family unit, which I understand. It's got me into problems though because she is ON all the time, and I can't function for more than 2 days in a row with 4-5 hours sleep. I love everyone I know though and have made peace with my circumstances and most of lifes difficulties that come my way and try to be the better person.

here stateside, my regular doc was scrutinizing my prescriptions and called me into his office to find out why I was taking Rifampin and who prescribed it.

I get they need to see who is getting controlled substances because people doctor shop, but it is now open to every prescription. I don't like that database.

I don't see him anymore.
