I had a Spect scan too, and although I was a bit disturbed by the findings, it all confirmed that the areas of my brain that had lower blood flow correlated directly with the areas of my body that I was having the most issues with at the time. I had 2 areas that had lowered blood flow.

No, they do not recognize that Lyme can create these same issues.

Chances are actually highest that the person reading the scan has no idea what Lyme does to the brain - even if she did read it on your chart/notes.

And no, this does not mean your only choice is IV therapy. I healed with herbs only. That choice is still yours. Although I have not had another Spect scan done to compare, I had late stage dementia symptoms - stage 6 according to this site: /www.dementiacarecentral.com/aboutdementia/facts/stages/ - and I can say that now, I range between stage 2 and 3, depending on how much I'm herxing and how tired I am. So I would say that I have healed pretty well so far, and I"m not done yet!

IF it is Dr J he said I should get a spect and igenix test because my initial blood work was negative, but he said I didn't have to because he clinically diagnosed me with Lyme and COs. He said it was one of the most clear cut clinical diagnoses he's ever given.

How did you know that the areas affected were the areas affecting the rest of your body? I was hoping that would be the case about the dr just not being aware of lyme effects on the brain, but, I was reading an old thread here about the spect scan and a person on here had a spect scan done in my local hospital and it stated lyme as the diagnosis. However, I had the scan done in a neighboring county where I used to live and lyme is not a thing that is even recognized, so I should not be surprised I guess.

I also worked at the hospital where I got the scan done, At the height of my lyme symptoms and rash. Not one dr or nurse I spoke with (because I was very sick, it was obvious) ever even mentioned lyme in our discussions. Everything but lyme. Even though my outward symptoms screamed lyme disease, no one in that hospital recognized it. And I worked on the neurology ward. And I have neuro lyme. Go figure.

My report states that there is hypoperfusion in the subfrontal areas bilaterallly, in both posterior parietal/posterior temporal/occipital zones bilaterally and in the inferomedial aspect of the temporal lobes. I have no idea what that means actually. I understand that it means less blood and oxygen flow to these areas, but don't know how that is affecting me and what symptoms are because of it.

This is "the" Dr J. I just had my appointment 4 days ago and the next one is 10 weeks away. I'm trying to be cool in my mind about it all and trying not to freak out but it is work to do that. hahah

I get it probably is just lyme causing the hypoperfusion, but with my biological family history I am nervous. My mother started with alzheimers symptoms in her late 50s to early 60s. My father got parkinsons in his 80s but looking back he had symptoms for many many years. I also suspect they each have lyme and not alzheimers or parkinsons. But they are biological relatives and not in my life so it is not my place to get them tested or suggest they get tested or see a llmd.

Dr J said he would treat with IV therapy for the cns symptoms I am having, but then I saw the NP and she asked if I would be open to trying orals and see if we can get remission that way and we would revisit and reevaluate the situation. I wasn't sure if this scan results changes things in their eyes. In one way I would still like to give it the time my NP said we can give it, on the other, I am not willing to take chances to letting my brain get worse.
