I am in lots of constant pain, something I didn't have too much of since my diagnosis in Nov. The pain in my legs & knees is brutal! I developed a Baker's cyst that ruptured in the right knee & now I think there is another one in the left knee.

I was having success with Blue Vervain, but now it seems to not do too much.

Any suggestions?

Are you looking for mainly herbal suggestions - or just anything that might help?

Can you tell if your pain is more muscular or nerve related?

For herbs, there are many you can try, but remember - treatment is what will help the most.

I've had some success using Avena sativa (oats in the milky stage, not oat straw), taken at the same time as I take valerian. This helps my tight, painful muscles the most.

Do be sure you are taking something for inflammation too - this will lower your pain levels too.

In the past, I used turmeric, bromelaine and ginger to help ease my pain levels.

You can add 3-4g Kratom as needed for pain (up to 8g per dose) , I am very happy with the guys at EZ Kratom, but continue treating the root cause. If a small amount works, you can save buying by the kilo. It all natural.

Cannabis is also good for pain. And it can't hurt to add in turmeric for inflammation.

I use a liposmal form of turmeric, vitamin C and resveratrol since it is suppose to be absorb by the body better. Not a big fan of the soy lecithin so I use sunflower lecithin. Here is an article which explains it.

I have just started Gabapentin for my pain..

I don't know yet if it will work...still ramping up slowly....100 mg at a time.

I also had baker cysts...but mine didn't rupture. How do you know when that happens?

Mine just slowly went away.

Thanks for all the good replies. I'll look into them & see what I can get quickly.

I just went to LLMD for 1st time yesterday. We both suspect bart, something I haven't had time to investigate yet, & I think that explains the pain.

I'll start another thread with questions about that.....

Oh, yes, by the way--all natural. At this point I'm mad about pharmaceuticals again! Too long of a story to explain. :/

Girlie, I see I didn't answer your question. I've been in a bad place the last few weeks.

When a Baker's cyst ruptures, the fluid leaks down into the muscle tissue of the calf & it hurts a lot. Lots of swelling in the calf, ankles, feet.

The swelling has resolved now but I still have a tight muscle/tendon/something running down the back of my calf that has been really painful but is slowly decreasing. I don't know if that is the bart that just raged into action.

The Baker's cyst in the other knee seems to be absorbing & going away, probably because I've been off my feet for 2 weeks & have not aggravated it.

Traveler,

I can't tell what my pain is sometimes--bone pain, pain in nerves, joint pain. I just want to cut off my lower extremities some days! It seems so inescapable.

I am taking a number of things for inflammation--tumeric, quercetin, bromelain, butterbur. And I have a bit of papaya for breakfast.

If you can find a really good acupuncture therapist, they can be of great help in dealing with the pain from these infections too.

Thanks, I don't know if an acupuncturist is in the budget at this time. Just went to a LLMD-expensive. Not sure if he is going to help me or push his specialized therapies & try to convince me to use antibiotics.

Just remember that treatment choices are yours. It's your body and you are the one that has to live through this. Non-pharma abx treatment protocols do work, if your LLMD doesn't recognize this and you still wish to use the alternative methods, there are many choices and you can go see a different doc that understands this.

I almost never buy things from doctors, as I can usually find them online for cheaper - and, as you said, this is expensive! If I agree that it's something I need, I will find the best price, and if the doctor doesn't like that, then I stop seeing them. I'm not here to support them!! I"m here for their help.
