I started on Oil of Oregano last night -- 5 drops before bed. I actually noticed an immediate anti-inflammatory effect and my head was much clearer before bed.

Today, I feel depressed, foggy, my throat is sore/a little mucusy, and I feel like I've been hit my a truck; however, I don't feel 'sick' or flu-like, which is a common die-off symptom for me. Would it be safe to assume this is a herx?

Oil of oregano is strong stuff...i hearxed from a hot bath with 20drops in a cup of milk ...started using it cut with olive oil directly on joints ...i swish with it in coconut oil ...i always smell like a peteza

do you tend to feel more emotionally 'flat' and find stuff less enjoyable during herxes? I feel really disinterested in everything today

Lyme and coinfections change your personality. It's not necessary the herx.Things that you loved are unimportant.It is very disheartening.

What I don't know because I also am still going through all this is:

After we heal, will we be the person we were before all this changed us?

I realize that life's circumstances, age, etc factor into all this, but I miss my old life!

Well, that's not explicitly what I'm referring to. Even on my worst days, I can still maintain some level of enjoyment/interest in things, however marginal. I find that when I take things which can produce a herx, however, I become very gray/flat and just want to lie around -- everything bores me. I was wondering if others felt similarly.

It's almost certainly a herx. A herx is defined as an increase in symptoms a person already has, or new symptoms in response to treatment of some sort. Some people are very sensitive to certain things - meaning they feel the effects right away, or it creates such a die off effect that they herx quickly.

As Blue said, oil of oregano is strong stuff! I've used it for many, many things over the years, even a brown recluse bite on my calf (NOT recommended though!! Sheesh!). Many people that try oil of oregano will herx quickly though, so be careful to not create a massive herx (they are dangerous), and increase your detoxing to help lower these symptoms again.

I do experience the feeling very flat emotionally too when I'm herxing. It takes the fun out of most everything.

I just want to address what you're saying,because this is what I've gone through over the years during relapses. (No treatment). Yes to a degree we will be the people we were before all this. YOU still have your sense of humor, your love for your cat, and your ability to be loving and caring. I don't know that much more about you to comment on, but you aren't completely not you. (Shall we change your name to Alice? }

The things that you and I loved doing will begin to draw us back in and we will be able to enjoy more.

You do have a new awareness, a little trepidation about re-infections that you may always carry with you to some extent. I don't allow myself to dwell on that, because it involves a scope of prevention I am not equipped to carry out. I will probably have a shorter amount of patience, but I can always blame that on old age.

If adrenals get worse during a herx (and we can't tolerate the standard interventions like herbs, HC etc.), what should we do? I don't feel like I'm in danger of a crisis or anything, but I am very weak/fatigued. Since it's only day 2, is it possible that things will improve if I stick with it? I am doing frequent coffee enemas for detox.
