Lyme and coinfections change your personality. It's not necessary the herx.Things that you loved are unimportant.It is very disheartening.
What I don't know because I also am still going through all this is:
After we heal, will we be the person we were before all this changed us?
I realize that life's circumstances, age, etc factor into all this, but I miss my old life!
I just want to address what you're saying,because this is what I've gone through over the years during relapses. (No treatment). Yes to a degree we will be the people we were before all this. YOU still have your sense of humor, your love for your cat, and your ability to be loving and caring. I don't know that much more about
you to comment on, but you aren't completely not you. (Shall we change your name to Alice? }
The things that you and I loved doing will begin to draw us back in and we will be able to enjoy more.
You do have a new awareness, a little trepidation about
re-infections that you may always carry with you to some extent. I don't allow myself to dwell on that, because it involves a scope of prevention I am not equipped to carry out. I will probably have a shorter amount of patience, but I can always blame that on old age.
