Anybody take grapefruit seed extract while on SSRI?

I've been reading conflicting things about how grapefruit seed extract can affect drug metabolism and can be dangerous to take with certain prescription drugs. Before I begin to take it I want to make sure its safe to take with my SSRI lexapro 5mg. So my question is has anybody taken GSE while on an SSRI?

Not trying to sound like a hypochondriac, just concerned about what I am putting into my body!

You could call a Pharmacist and ask.

To be certain, I usually call two different Pharmacies..and see if they agree.

Hi Tick41,

For what it's worth, my daughter's doctor has her on grapefruit seed extract along with Lexapro 10mg. She is doing well on it, but I guess I just trusted her doctor to know whether or not they were safe to take together and haven't looked into it. This doctor has treated other depressed teens with Lyme so I trust her experience. Even so, it might be worth looking into. Doesn't hurt to double check.

Tick - I plugged grapefruit and lexapro into the drug interaction checker that I use:

/www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?drug_list=2624-0,1013-565

and no interactions came up.
