Minocycline

For those of you who have taken Minocycline, what was your experience with it?

Did it help out more than doxy?

Did it help for neuroborrealis?

I may ask my doc to prescribe it and see if I notice a difference from doxy. Apparently it's a synthetic drug:

Having a rough go with it right now...had severe depersonalization when doing it the first time...and now trying 100mg every other day ala modified wiegman and having head pressure and pressure behind the eyes. I don't know if side effects are common but this is a bit of a flag. Maybe its the tinidazole??....***k's frustrating.

I switched from doxy to mino and am alternating mino and tinizadole 6 days a week. Also taking Samento.

My rosacea was getting worse on doxy, and it seems to be clearing up. I had more stomach issues with doxy, but some of the tics/twitches are starting to resurface. It's only been a few days and could be a herx, so I'm going to give it more time. Fatigue and muscle pain are worse too.

I was herxing bad yesterday. Muscle pain was awful and twitches back. I'm going to see if it calms down. I feel better today but not good. On the other hand, maybe I'm hurting because it's working. I actually hurt worse than I did on the doxy/tin mix.

Even parts of my gums were hurting, and it was where I've had trouble before which is consistent with the bacteria attacking old injuries. As I write this, I know I need to give new regimen more time. Rosacea is still much, much better.

There's a funny study that illustrates Minocycline is effective for anxiety induced partner initiation. Meaning those who took mino were not easily molded and were much more rational in their decisions regarding the initial start of a relationship. It might be because it's a potent anti-inflammatory.

It made me feel a lot worse for awhile and then helped after a few months.

minocycline is definitely better for hitting neuro symptoms since it penetrates the blood brain barrier very well. doxy not so much. i did well on it and i took it for many months (and am still on it). they both have their place and even though both are tetracyclines they do have different mechanisms of action similar to cephalosporins where there are 5 generations i believe.

there are many LLMD's that prescribe to the rotational abx approach. been reading brian rosner's book of late he's a proponent and it really makes sense to keep the bugs off guard by hitting them from multiple angles and limit their adaptability.

you can still burn in the sun with minocycline for sure but definitely not as bad as doxy.

My LLMD mentioned someone's new book he was reading and yes, said changing the drugs and the delivery is supposed to confuse the bacteria and help beat it. This week I hurt as much as I have in a long time. I took a day off of antibiox yesterday but am back to it today. That's what the LLMD suggested if it was too bad or bad for a long time.

I had a few days last month with the doxy/tin where I felt I could have gone jogging, but I think based on the herxing happening now it wouldn't have lasted, so I'm hoping this is a good approach to kill the stuff more efficiently and hopefully permanently.

Yes, hopefully it will kill it permanently eventually. I'm going to see my LLMD in 2 weeks, and hopefully he'll prescribe me monocy, and once I start on it, I'll let you guys know how it goes. I'm anticipating serious herxes, so maybe I'll just do half a dose during the week while at work, and then increase it during the weekends.
