Hi friends,
I hesitated posting because I just see there is a thread on neuropathy. But I guess I will anyway.

I have fired my Lyme doc. I will see him once more in a few weeks for some test results, but will be self treating, as there are no other docs near me. Maybe that is a bad idea, seeing as I have new symptoms.

Within the last month or two I a have had "hot" legs...lol.. Not like I wish that sounded. From the knee down to toes. Also pin pricks/needles with numbness, and they just feel inflamed and painful. Seems to happen a lot at night. I have been having to put cooling gels or peppermint oil on them which helps a bit. Also, I use ice packs a lot for my jaw pain and today I woke up from a nap and thought I had somehow put an ice pack on my belly. But no, it just felt that way. Strange.

I had heard of Neuropathy, but could this be it? Or Lyme itself? I did a quick Google search and see that Lyme can cause this. Ugh. Another thing to add to the list?! I hate to think of even seeing my GP, but maybe I will have head back to my LLMD with my tail between my legs. But thought I would ask here first since you all are so knowledgeable! wink

You've done a brave thing! Glad you are listening to your instincts and taking control.

Yes - those sx are neuropathy, very common with us. Also, keep in mind that our bodies are a very dynamic landscape - even when healthy. And much more dynamic with such a complex illness and treatment involved. So - things change daily.

The development of new symptoms or changing symptoms don't necessarily mean your treatment isn't working, but it does mean that you need to take note and sometimes respond, accordingly. Most of us here have had to adjust antimicrobials, dosing, diet, supplements and/or detoxing at various points along the way to respond to the constant peeling of layer after layer of what it means to dig into these infections and treat them, recover and heal.

But you also need to have a lot of faith in your LLMD. So it's critical to find one who will be a good partner for you. We have several members here who are treating on their own so it can absolutely be done.

My Lyme-friendly neurologist shared that he feels most neuropathy is due to inflammation. So this is something to try along with the remedies you posted about. I use japanese knotweed, turmeric is helpful, you can also do a search for conversations about anti-inflammatories.

I had a feeling that is what was happening. The thing that makes me wonder though, is I have not been treating since late last year, because of my whole dental cavitation/jaw issue. And well, also, because my LLMD told me we already treated my Lyme(2 months of oral ABX). mad

So I am thinking it's the progression of the disease, sadly. I have started back on herbals last week so am beginning the whole process over again. Back to the drawing board!

Interesting what you say about your neurologist, who sounds great btw, and inflammation... I guess that is where the burning feelings come in. I have a big bag of turmeric. I always forget about it! I think I will go make a "golden milk" right now.

I had horrible neuropathy. It had gotten much better, even to the point of reducing one of my Rx.

Greetings, TrialbyLyme and all

As most of you know, I have Lyme for a long time - was treated with antibiotics several years ago/went in to remission/ Lyme blew up again.

In January when I started getting serious with the correct doses of the plant based antibiotics (Herbal protocol) I got neuropathy in my feet. Ive realized I had a slight bit all along that I hadn't paid any attention to. My heels often burned when I would sleep on my back, I had to roll to my side. It was quite irritating for a while. Now it seems to be better, with occasional flares. But still the burning heels! It makes sense that it is an inflammatory response.

Lyme is a crazy thing! Makes me wonder what symptom will pop up next!!

Someone told me Vicks helps. I tried it. Not so much.

I think if you are consistent, it will clear up.

Agreeing with P!!!! That is all you need to fire him!!

Have you tried quercetin? I just read your other thread about concerns using curcumin, so that's another thing that helps with both digestion and with inflammation.

Oh man, and that is just the beginning too! I do have to give him credit as he is the only one who ever found my Lyme after 3.5 decades.

@ Trav-I did try quercetin in the past. Maybe I will try again. Said LLMD suggested it. But when I saw Dr. F in PHX he told me I need to take 5-10 grams of curcumin daily.

@purple and purrrsian- what meds were you taking for neuropathy?
