Hi guys,

I have a question in order to understand dosages in relation to herbs etc. The following product: https://www.iherb.com/pr/Paradise-Herbs-Resveratrol-180-Veggie-Caps/12741

Each capsule contains 100 mg, so I'd expect that I would have to take 20 capsules to reach 2 gram/day. However, then I read in one of the customer reviews "Taking between 2 and 4 of these capsules, depending on body weight, per day before meals is usually best as each capsule provides 2 grams of knotweed in total"

So the 20:1 concentrated potency means that 1 capsule equals 2 gram and not 100 mg? This sounds more reasonable as 20 capsules/day would be a lot and the bottle would only last 9 days. (180 caps in total).

So this is what I figure:

I looked at the Paradise Herbs bottle:

On the back of the bottle it says: Polygonum Cuspdatum Root Extract 20:1 naturally containing 20% Resveratrol and equal to 2000 mg of whole root.

The 100 mg you're referring to is the Root Extract 20:1
(20% resveratrol)

So - each capsule of Paradise Herbs contains 2000 mg of the whole root.


From the website (Buhner)

Japanese Knotweed capsules (Source Naturals Resveratrol with 500mg Polygonum cuspidatum per tablet)
150 lb adult: 1-4 tablets 3-4x daily

(So that would be 1500 mg daily minimum (1 tablet 3X daily) to 8000 mg maximum ( 4 tablets X 4 daily)

You taking 1 capsule daily gives you 2000 mg - but that is close to the minimum daily amount.)

I also have the paradise andrographis here which is a 200 mg capsule and mentions "Andrographis Extract 12:1 (whole plant)".

This means that by taking 1 capsule I already get 2400 mg of Andrographis?

Yep, Girlie nailed it - I got confused by that myself to start with (I am taking the same product as you Warrant)!

And yes, you would get the 2400mg of Andrographis.

I don't know if you have Buhner's book (healing Lyme)? I personally found it extremely helpful in sorting out the herbs relating to different symptoms and the doses. His latest book is very symptom specific and I would highly recommend it.

Yes, I have the book, thanks. Woops, I have been overdosing on Andrographis then for a couple of days because I thought I would only get 200 mg.. But I did not note any side effects .
