Anyone pulse ABX two weeks on/off?

I see a lot of folks who pulse ABX, but none with my schedule. I do 2 weeks of rifampin twice a day, minocycline twice a day, tinidazole twice a day (3 days a week during my "on" weeks), Zithromax once every other day (during the two "on" weeks).

I do my herbs and supplements continually, except artemisinin and cumanda.

Just curious if anyone else does it this way. I trust my doc but I get reassurance to hear that other docs are on board with this method.

dogsblood the pulsing approach is as varied as the opinions on how best to get well! i don't think anyone has the market on what's the most effective treatment cause if they did we'd all be doing it!

rifampin, mino and zithro are all used to treat lyme and bart. tinidazole hits lyme and parasites including some babesia. cumanda hits lyme and is an anti-fungal and artemisinin hits babesia. pulsing gives your body a rest and lets it detox + it coaxes the bugs out of hiding so you can whack em again. it also lets your immune system do some of the heavy lifting.

protocol seems to have pretty good coverage for lyme, bart and babs though prob a bit light on babs. what are you treating?

Tini 500mg tid (but only bid when using Nitazoxanide 500mg bid concurrently) 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off.

Doxy 200mg bid 35 days on with a recent switch to Mino 100mg bid for 55 days on if I can tolerate it.

The goal for the tetracycline is 90 days bid. I am trying to hit a stubborn epididymal cyst, which responds to the tetracyclines. I want to take mino to 100mg tid on some days if I can tolerate it.

Have not seen much evidence to suggest pulsing is the way to go with many antibiotics.

I will say that when I first began Doxy I pulsed unintentionally. Why? Because I experienced what felt like Kidney fatigue, but now I believe it was Kidney infection. Had to give the body time to recover and then I got back on.

Now I tolerate the tetracyclines well longer term, without the kidney fatigue.

I don't think there is anything magical about pulsing, nor is it more effective, but if you are doing it to give the body a rest so you don't hurt yourself then it can be very effective.

I too have been doing a 2 week on 2 week off routine. When I started pulsing over two years ago my LLMD asked if I would prefer one month on and one month off or the two week cycle.
