Adding Whey Protein to Lyme nutrition

I don't do whey protein. Matter of fact never done it. I am willing to try it if it would help with lyme issue.
My protein intake at the moment is between 40gr to 50gr a day with few days a little less than that.
I do not eat meat, or dairies (organic yogurt or homemade cheese, 3 times a year the latter).
I can eat an entire bag of flounder or wild salmon fillets in one dinner (roughly 60 gr of proteins).
While I understand that my protein intake should be double of the above numbers....for building muscles....I want to know if any of you benefits from taking whey protein (organic) for lyme disease healing.

Oh yes I mentioned only the above animal proteins being usually the most complete. I also do other vegetable proteins.....I am just interested if whey isolate would be beneficial.

I know Peteza (I think it's Peteza) does a whey protein. Hopefully she will see this and let you know the name of it. Back when I used to have dairy Tera's Whey was a decent whey protein. If it's just protein you want hydrolized collagen has 13 grams, Health Force brand Spirulina Manna is 65% pure protein. It's amazing.

I take "Un-denatured" whey protein. the typical sports whey you find will be denatured by processing

I use one called TruProtein, and there another cheapter one with good reviews called Naked Whey.

The reason it is helpful for us, is that it increases Gluthatione.

Thank you. I thought dairy is bad for lyme. Yet another contradiction? Curious to know if this is an exception. Thanks for the link. Will check out the adrenal fatigue/arthritis link.

Will taking glutathione do the trick?

Great links - thank you so much. That Chris Kresser guy is really interesting. Which brand do you use?

Artemix, I agree - thought I was the only one. I gag on that stuff and it's expensive. Chris Kresser doesn't think it's that great for the immune compromised.

I don't think there is anything wrong with real dairy, the kind you speak about. I have an allergy to caesin so wonder if I can have the whey. Also keep hearing that dairy not good for lyme. I'm guessing inflammation?

Someone can chime in, the Dairy restrictions might be due to gut issues and lactose intolerance?

I think A2 milk protein (casein) isn't inflammatory like A1. Goat and sheep are A2 whereas most milk you can get is A1.

I use this whey (Pure SFH) that is made from A2 cow's milk. It is a concentrate that contains the casein but doesn't bother me at all. With normal whey (A1) I can only use the isolate as the casein in it nukes my digestion.

In general I think whey is great for helping the body to produce glutatione. I've been using it for years. But personally I'd use an A2 version or a whey isolate if using A1 to avoid increasing inflammation.

Did you experience any help or just feel better at all when you tried naked whey (or ANY Whey?)? My muscle wasting went to the point I have NOTHING left to lose now so looking for ways (or wheys-smile) to add some more muscle so I can then go NUKE the little spirochetes in my home made sauna once they come out to play. They eat my muscle and I give em a steam Sunburn of sorts.

I had sort of made up my mind to try Whey Protein Isolate but no matter what I try, the cost is just a bummer. Worse, about 5 or so years ago we honestly had to throw away over $300.00 plus when 6 huge 2 to 5 gallon jugs went bad when we never used them in time. I got sick and when in hospital so long nobody use any and the rest is history I suppose. I had thought this may be BAD with Lyme but I don't see any better way to try to rebuild a bit along with working on my Total Gym. Having gone to the same High School as Chuck Norris THAT just always bugs me every time I am on it but what's a boy to dosmile I am also tying the heavy salt & Vitamin C deal that I saw the group here condemn long ago but I decided to just try a little if this, a little of that and just do whatever comes to mind. Only going to buy ONE 2 or 5 gallon tub this time since I have a new back-Thoracic brace arriving tomorrow and don't want to get to fat for it. It will not allow me to stand up & walk again but may relieve a bit of pain or so my Pain Management doctor says. It REALLY upsets me that I can buy it online for $495.00 or because of my military record (with proof) they offered it to me for just $250.00 and come to my home to fit me, the who show. I do it through my Insurance company? It is an INSANE &743.22 and I pay 20% of that! I put all that on hold I was SO pissed off. Until I can calm down a bit and sort it out. I will NOT let this Government get SO ripped off with this Medicare supplemental Insurance SCAM. No wonder none of us can afford healthcare anymore! But I digresssmile I do just wonder if this or any Why was of any benefit in your case or not? Thanks for any info,

Whey and casein is VERY inflammatory especially to those intolerant to milk proteins such as myself.

People who cant have dairy, its due to the casein & whey, VS the lactose as had been earlier believed.

I buy Naked Whey (which is very clean), and Body Logix Natural Whey (not as clean, but not too bad, and my husband likes the taste of it.)

I've used many brands of milk based powdered proteins after weights and extensive cardio since about 1983. They all created gas. Not the kind you put in your car. This is VERY common, but that does not mean its normal.

Its kind of a joke in the fitness culture. And the jokes on them , since their adult digestive systems are NOT made to digest mammal milk of any type. All of the anti-inflammatory diets say to avoid it for a reason. Its part of the foundation to leaky gut too.

I was drinking a "fake" veggie based Kefir (a rarity) and felt no ill effects. Then it was no longer avail , so I switched to a 99% lactose free real milk Kefir, and I bloat like a dead racoon. It still has milk protiens in it even though 99% of the lactose (milk sugar) is removed.

I've used veggie based workout protein mixes with great results this last year. Look ma...no gas! And huge strength gains never achieved before. Tried soy based.....but I'd rather not do soy. Pea / rice protien is the latest and greatest. The high end brands are spendy, but even Walmart has Pureley Inspired for $19 for 18 servings (1.5 lbs). Its dairy, gluten, soy free, 2g sugar per serving tastes great and I can tell a difference if I dont use it.


Skipping all milk products is one of the best choices I've made in life. Cheese is something I do miss -I still have issues with goat cheese too. Almond "milk", (unsweetened vanilla flavor) in my opinion , tastes better than real milk any day. (The sweetened vanilla tastes like more like vanilla.)

Try giving up milk for a while.

They make egg based protein powder too- another option if you tolerate eggs well.
